Every one of his candidates followed me on Twitter day 1 of their campaigns. I figured out after a few years that he must've made a local influencer cheatsheet. When I ran for office, he stood me up when I was interviewing campaign managers. Grateful for that and that I lost that race. Whew!
βThis appears to be the first time a European regulator has decided that a social media platformβs algorithm discriminates by gender, presenting a major step forward in holding these platforms accountable to existing law.β

If you didn't already know, these "driverless" vehicles aren't totally driverless and some robotaxis crash 3x more than humans (cough Tesla).
I can't fathom why people trust these vehicles with their lives.

To feed the machine, to get them hooked, to monitor how it's used. I've lost count of how many ways Meta is awful.

As an American, I definitely feel gaslit about how the rest of the functions. I'm actively deconstructing what I've been taught but I think knowing how governments attempt to reign in the speech of their residents are important flags to watch.

A post-American #enshittification resistant internet is coming, including legalized jailbreak. This. Is. A. Lot. but worth every minute. Cory Doctorow doing what he does.

There are a lot of layers to the TikTok sale and the upwards of 150% surge of uninstalls due to algorithm glitches is just the headline. It was also the only major social media platform that leaned left. Some say they're after the kids - right leaning indoctrination www.emarketer.com/content/tikt...
In the West we don't like to talk about grief but as we spend more of our lives online, talking about how we grieve the end of others' lives is worth contemplation.

As YouTube ages, its defunct channels are becoming hot commodities. 4,641 channels listed on Fameswap between Oct 24 and Mar 25, had a combined 823m subscribers, and the ones that found buyers collectively generated more than $1m in sales.

Yeah Iβm not recommending buying from them. Iβm simply curious about how their βno social mediaβ experiment is working out.
Lush Cosmetics ditched social media a few years ago and I've been really curious to hear how it's been going for them. Check out this follow-up as it relates to Meta's recent changes.

I'm curious if anyone uses #Nextdoor and has an opinion on the new design. I only do lessons and setup so hearing from actual users (other than my mom) would be helpful.

From a personal perspective, I almost never post. I do for work because it would be weird for a social media consultant to never post. So I'm in a weird spot on this but I get it.
Now I don't feel alone when it comes to just keeping it to myself.

The makers of AI thought they were going to win us over but the harder they try, the more people are opting out of technology as much as possible.
This is not the plot twist I expected but I'm loving this development.

The tug of war between the needs of the audience, the creator, and the platforms where we find them has never been more fraught.
The trend of going independent and creating community is a David and Goliath situation.

THIS IS WHY you don't post your children online. Meta will use them as bait for men. Real children, real names, real faces in ads. STOP posting photos of your kids on the internet. They aren't safe here.

Many bans and limitations are slippery slopes to get to the point of being able to shut down any speech we don't agree with. Suppress energy and you get an explosion.

A government falling down on the job decides that banning social media is the tactic. Pretends its about safety & privacy but it's really so that its citizens can't express their views or communicate with others. How'd that work out for you? Other countries be warned. www.reuters.com/business/med...
