As a teacher, I canβt tell you how many students I had whoβs parents blamed teachers when their children did poorly in school despite calls home telling them they wouldnβt do their work, are on their phones constantly, etc.
This is because of parents coddling kids, not giving them any responsibility, blaming teachers when they donβt do well in school instead of putting any responsibility on their kids, spoiling them & never making them earn anything.
It was bad enough watching the helicoptering of my parenting cohort when our kids applied to college.

When I was 10, my parents sent me & my brother and sister to 4 weeks (or maybe it was 2 weeks) of summer camp called Camp Letts. It was an overnight camp run by the YMCA up near Baltimore. This was the 70s. She had been sent to Camp Atwater in Maine as a child & later worked there as a counselor.
