The @plagueofangels.bsky.social gig at York minster was incredible. It was an experience of the cathedral as a meeting place of communities - so much better than merely history.
Plus the band were just killer. If you haven't played guitar standing on an organ under a huge cross are you even metal?

White women, please be on the lookout for this ish, know that we're obligated to be the frontline of shutting it down.
Much history of the abuse of Global Majority women comes from defining WW as fragile/delicate/must be protected/ "feminine" & the *baseline* of womanhood & it's harmful bullshit.

Female Martyrs and their Ministry in the Early Church - Marg Mowczko
Female martyrs in the early church, such as Blandina and Perpetua, "conformed themselves to Christ, even in death."
March 7 is the feast day of Perpetua and Felicitas.
The two young North African women were martyred publicly in the arena for their Christian faith in around 203.
"Nowhere is the female voice more prominent than in the martyrdom literature." #WomensHistoryMonth

Also, I'm absolutely aware there are bigger things going on in the world where your money would be better spent and more important.
The patreon keeps me able to pay rent due to my other pressures (see the site).
Please consider where you can support YOUR community best. If I'm that, let's talk.

The song I wrote the lyrics to has surpassed 1000 listens on Spotify! My diabolical plan of corrupting the youth with the theology of the emperor Julian is proceeding splendidly.

Go into this thread. It's great. Start with @lainad.bsky.social her book is still one of the most important in metal studies and her work is stellar and then discover all the other people Ryan has put on here.

In doing so it undermines all sorts of voices and experiences. I know how to ask my questions because of my position. This is especially detrimental to marginalised scholars and artists, as it erases their distinct experience into the rest of knowledge, erasing their power and their voice.

I don't mind people using my work and not paying me - that's academia! - but it's not 'generally known' information, I worked and asked specific questions (a creative activity) that bought me to those conclusions. AI passes stuff off as general knowledge which is actually highly specialised work.

Great thread, thank you.
My main objection to the plagiarism issue is that as an academic if I 'learn' from you and publish I have to cite you, I have to credit, to acknowledge the previous work. As academics we rarely get paid so citation is all we have to prove this is not 'general knowledge'

Ah,.lovely to see you.
Very much looking forward to this book!
I have heard so many of the things you mentioned when I was young, spent so many days as the only woman minister in a room.
But I also want to know how your St Hild work is going #nerd

Really lovely to hear @bethallisonbarr.bsky.social speaking about her important book "Becoming the Pastor's Wife" to @feministtheology.bsky.social
Understanding how we end up with these ideas of gender roles that are being proclaimed so loudly is important, knowing how to fight them even more so.

As a Terry Pratchett fan, I do love using a footnote to give the comedy information that you know wouldn't be allowed elsewhere.
Also, If you can retaliate with anger OR grammar, choose petty grammatical nonsense every time!

Why else?
Wait...do women enjoy music..?

An image of York minster, a gothic cathedral, with the headline "York Minster co creation outraged over 'deeply inappropriate' concert. Gig at cathedral by metal band Plague of Angels would be 'outright insult' to their faith, say parishioners".
Image of pipes from a pipe organ tinted in bronze and yellow tones. Concert name reads- Organic Metal: Two Worlds Collide presented by Plague of Angels
York Minster is to host an excellent collaboration between organist David Pipe & Plague of Angels. a complaint was publicised by the Guardian & I was invited by modern church network to write a response as this is the intersection of my work.

Yes, interesting query. I think this is what's so interesting for me about why this particular concert provoked complaints, when as you say plenty of us have performed in churches without ever being asked about our faith position.

What's interesting is that I have way more followers her than twitter (because of the starter packs) but far, far fewer interactions.
And I'm aware a see fewer of the people I follow & miss so much.
So I've self reposted when I've felt that it's something I'd normally get chat for & it's got nowt.
