Are we talking in libraryland about the amount of garbage we now get when we put in any sort of reasonable search into our common (Proquest/EBSCO) interfaces?
In terms of relevant results for the exact same search, Google Scholar is far outpacing the databases we pay $$$$$ for in EVERY instance.📚
I'm thrilllled this research is finally out there! Library hiring prob isn't the worst out there, but as a field we have a long way to go when it comes to being inclusive of neurodivergent job candidates.

As a grad of a program that did include a required management class, I can say with 100% certainty that the employer-led program seems more useful. And am I really going to have retained anything from LIS 538 now, 10 years later, going into my first semi-formal leadership position? Not happening.

Curtailing people’s ability to read widely and carefully, to locate, assess, and compare different sources for themselves, and to write in their own voice about what they find and what it means, is arguably more effective than censorship. It is also one of the most obvious effects of generative AI.
Research librarian confessions: of the 6 research consults I've had this week, my first step for 5 of them has been Google Scholar.
And it's worked way better than the subscription databases.
