Goodness! I did that too! We were riding buddies, separated by time. Kata Tjuta threw rain at me, but it was still amazing, because as you said, I felt like I was really there.
My heart broke when I sold my trusty Honda 550 Four, thirty-eight years ago, tired of getting rained on, hailed on, bugs inside my visor, but I still dream about riding it, and only dream ;)
Saw on of those a while back with "I'm not a sheeple" on the back windscreen. Irony!
