Dear #cdnmedia just a reminder - the AFN has a *National Chief* not a *Grand Chief*

If you're going to lecture people about punctuation errors, please use proper punctuation: colon/comma after "Jess," then either a period after each of your clauses or commas and coordinating conjunctions leading into the second and third points.

Furthermore, a comma is the punctuation mark with the widest level of comprehensibility when it's missing. Commas almost fall closer to usage than punctuation. There was nothing unclear in the original sentence without the comma, except perhaps your opportunity to feel superior.

A punctuation error is not a grammatical mistake, as grammar governs the relationships between subjects, verbs, and objects in English, including spoken words. Punctuation is a separate entity applicable only to written English.

Simple thing journalists covering the US coup can do is refuse to include the preposition "of" in the acronym of Department of Government Efficiency, as we don't w/ the FBI, the USA, etc.

A suitable initialism for Musk's coup agency is DGE.

No need to promote that cringy facho-weenie's sad joke.

I wish people who want to be defeatists would start by defeating their own urge to spread their spirit of surrender. It's not helpful and it's not an accurate assessment of the present or the possibilities. Yes, we're in a hideous crisis. Yes, there's lots to do and lots of people trying to do it.

Why the hell do you think they call it a "burrow owl," anyway?

I guess this is the sort of thing I've been waiting for a place to say to a group of 12 people, where I know at least eight or nine of them.

Especially with TikTok replacing channel-surfing as a means of spectator-entertainment-we-stumble-upon, I'm worried "social media" is moving away from keeping us in touch with our friends and the people we care about. Not sure this platform will solve that. But a close friend gave me an invite.

I haven't figured out how that "Hey guys!" desire to speak to a faceless public has contributed to the various social malfunctions we've seen associated with Twitter and other public-facing social media. I only know I'm most comfortable speaking to people I know whom I can imagine reading my words.

In day 2 on this platform, I have 12 followers, the majority of whom are people I know personally. This feels comfortable: I can conceive of whom I'm speaking to, and have a sense of why I'm speaking when I speak to these friends and acquaintances. I don't wish to speak to The Public At Large.

What troubled me about Twitter when I stopped using it (months before it got bought by slack-jawed edgelord) was that many users seemed to be speaking to what they imagined was "their public," rather than to a group of specific friends.

I mean despite his training, he was at the time of the episode a hop-on riding in the cockpit jumpseat. Guess that would have mattered a lot more had he not, uh, attacked the captain and first officer. It’s now a little late to stress: set and setting, my man.
