Who produces hate speech? And how does that matter for content moderation?
We show that across different countries and platforms, a relatively small share of users are responsible for a very large share of hate - overall, 5% write 83-100% of hateful content.

The comments underneath this are depressing. "You are protected by [X] privacy law" does not mean, and has never meant, that you are completely anonymous. If you want a completely anonymous digital service, you are probably buying from criminals and, no, you're not truly anonymous even then.

I still canβt believe Joani Reidβs husband is an alleged Chinese spy and an Alba plant snuck into the number one spot on the Labour Lothian list and Anas Sarwar tried and failed to coup Starmer. What a month for the Scottish Labour Party.

Global power is not built at short notice, but China does have avenues open to them. They also have Russia as a resource colony now, so they're probably less concerned than some other countries.

Yes and no. China doesn't have a presence in ME but they are all over Africa and LATAM. They are very quickly transitioning away from technologies that keep the ME relevant as a supplier. ME obviously still relevant as a trade route. This is an acute crisis for them, but that won't last.

Sunder is correct here - the headline figure is quite misleading
Here are the profiles *over time*
Both care workers *and* dependents are fiscally positive for their first *20 years*.
Dependents are ultimately negative but only when old/sick/retired.

Dying for Ayatollahs thousands of kms away. We are about to face a refugee crisis of unbelievable proportions from Lebanon, Iran, Afghanistan, parts of Pakistan. And it's still just day 5.

*The war between the Taliban-ruled Afghanistan and Pakistan continues in many areas, sparking a significant refugee crisis, so far contained and supported by the UN agencies. Those however, are at maximum capacity, overwhelmed preparing in the whole region.

NEW ANALYSIS: UK emissions fell 2.4% in 2025 as coal fell to a 400-year low. Incredibly, we used less coal last year than than in 1600, when Queen Elizabeth I was on the throne and Shakespeare was writing Hamlet.

Untrue - the Convention provides both for the possibility that protection might cease to be necessary (ie the cessation clause: refugee status ends if there's a change in circumstances) AND the possibility it might need to be long-term (ie references to facilitating citizenship of the refuge State)

[We see a close up of a young white male, tanned, white teeth, coiffed hair clearly an influencer on social media. It is an image such as you see when social media posts are shown on the news. In the corner of the screen is named a location: DUBAI. He is staring slightly off-camera for several silent panels of the comic strip. His eyes move slightly. He is having a thought.]
From off-screen a newsreaderβs commentary comes:
NEWSREADER:
Extraordinary images here
of an expat in Dubai
[The influencerβs eybrows raise slightly]
β¦Having their first ever geopolitical thought.
[CUT TO a BBC news scene. The BBC newsreader CLIVE MYRIE is talking to an interviewee next to the screen showing the social media influencerβs face. The intervieweeβs name is David Jones].
CLIVE MYRIE:
To explain the significance of this moment weβre joined by David Jones, our Expat Thoughts correspondent
DAVID JONES:
Clive, this is momentous
It was caught on film at the end of an Instagram post titled: βDubai Is Brilliantβ.
[Pointing at the screen, the influencerβs expression still the same]
You can clearly see in the eyebrows here, the dawning realisation that there *might* be something in the world beyond his dickhead self.
It marks a *huge* departure from all the Dubai Expatβs previous thoughts.

DAVID JONES:
You've Got To Get Yourself Out Here Mate, Everything Is So Clean, I Don't Have To Pay Taxes,
I Am Incurious As To Why I Do Not Have To Pay Taxes, and Spa.
CLIVE MYRIE:
And might we see an expansion of these new Thoughts in coming days?
DAVID JONES:
I think we can expect to see:

CLIVE MYRIE:

I'll do it with the caveat that, if I survive (regardless of the situation of the cargo) I get a payment > Β£100m.

It will insist that companies from countries which do not allow EU firms to access their own procurement markets are excluded from the blocβs tenders in sectors including steel, cement, automotive, solar, wind and nuclear
