The clustering is the real thing to watch. Hoover's 7 were spread across years of depression. Trump's 3 all hit within two weeks in March 2020, pure liquidity panic. Now with Hormuz escalation and oil spiking, the question is whether yesterday's 800-pt drop starts another cluster or stays isolated.
Looking at the 20 largest Dow % declines since 1900 shows Herbert Hoover was the President for seven of them.
Reagan had the worst day ever.
Trump has three of them and they were all within two weeks of each other in March 2020.
