Probably 10-12 hours.
When I was 4 years old, I wandered off into the Mojave Desert alone, triggering an extensive search and rescue operation that ended with my photo on the front page of a local newspaper
This is just Foundation. If you know you know
Full communism is always coming in 20 years, nuclear fusion always in 15 years, and victory in Iran will always be a week away
Hello all, First, let me start with the bad news. As those of you who listened have no doubt noticed, my podcast Controlled Pod Into Terrain hadn't released an episode since January 2025, for a variety of reasons, including all three hosts moving to new homes. However, in the past few days you might have also noticed that the channel and the back catalog are missing from all platforms. This is because J, who owned the channel, is parting ways with the podcast due to difficulties with other community members and is worried about leaving their words and voice out there, outside of their control, in an environment where they feel threatened from various directions. Unfortunately, they have removed the back catalog and the channel itself and I have little hope that my efforts will result in its restoration. I was compensated for the loss of this content but I'm devastated that it's no longer public. PLEASE leave J alone and don't try to reach out to them to ask for the episodes or try to change their mind. Doing so will result in a ban. J does not deserve your ire here. ........ Now for the very good news. CPIT is coming back! While I no longer have access to the original episodes and channel, I was able to get a new editor (hi Gannon), and a new permanent hostβChloe Howie of Disaster Breakdown! Our new channel can be found here; if you were subscribed to the previous edition, please resubscribe: https://www.youtube.com/@CPIT_Pod We are already planning new episodes in the near future. So if you're a contributor to the CPIT Patreon, hang in there. Your support has been and will continue to be crucial because unlike J, who voluntarily gave their cut to me, Chloe will be paid to be there. The last few days have been a rollercoaster ride with everything that's happened with the podcast, and while I'm sorry I can't bring the back catalog back for you, I'm excited to see what we'll create going forward, and I hope you are too. βKyra
What's happening with Controlled Pod Into Terrain? I have bad news about past episodes, and good news about its future.
I'll have an announcement about the future of the podcast, the catalog, and the patreon in a few days
For everyone's information, I'm aware that the CPIT back catalog is down. Unfortunately it may not be coming back; I will update in the next few days. No we haven't been hacked or copyright struck, it's an internal issue. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Heck there's four in my house alone
Okay, apparently it's because a 2/3 majority is required to suspend the requirement to allow debate/introduction of amendments and proceed straight to a vote, so now the Pentagon-aligned lawmakers will presumably introduce an amendment to strip the military ADS-B requirements
Why did this bill require 2/3 support?
I love walking around at SF looking at all the pretty buildings but that's exactly what makes it not real
I was gonna go "But what about..." but then I couldn't think of any others
I moved from Seattle to Oakland and my housemate moved from Minneapolis to Oakland so it's all just trans girl musical chairs at this point
Also hell yeah glad to hear you think Oakland is one of the best cities in America because you're so damn right
I cannot emphasize enough how in love with this girl the entire city of Oakland is. She's everywhere here
Thank you, I really appreciate it! Don't hug those cactuses TOO hard...
Why do Hawker business jets keep crashing during post-maintenance stall tests? What ought to be done about it? Read my new deep dive here: admiralcloudberg.medium.com/the-most-dan...
Expect the Hawker stall test article in a couple of hours!
@donoteat.bsky.social Horrifying "Safety Third" material from a friend of mine who shall remained unnamed. Folks if you have to get rid of diesel DO NOT DO IT POUR IT INTO SOME POOR BUSINESS'S SUMP.
The NTSB has released its 419 page final report on the DCA mid-air: www.ntsb.gov/investigatio...
I'm expecting to finish my Hawker stall test article tomorrow, and I'll start diving into this crash immediately after.
I think the Hawker stall test article should be done in the next couple of days, at the current rate. I'll get more specific soon!
I'm not an instructor but I do explain plane stuff for a living. Rather than explaining yaw as a concept, I might start with the idea that the yaw *value* is the difference between the heading your nose is pointing toward, and the heading you're actually traveling on. Sorry if you already tried this
Ah, I see your problem. What have you already tried?
What's hard to understand about yaw? Genuine question, out of a desire to help
Post by the National Transportation Safety Board on Twitter: "Big safety rec win: Cockpit Voice Recorders are going from recording 2 hours to 25 hours on new aircraft. The FAAβs final rule aligns the U.S. with international safety standards and reflects years of NTSB safety recs. More data = better investigations = safer skies."
Hi everyone, my mental health is maybe sorta recovering after falling off a cliff. At this point my research on the Hawker stall test crashes is pretty much done except I'm still waiting to hear back from some Hawker test pilots, if any of them will talk to me. DCA mid-air is still next after that.
The DOD is always assumed to have a blank check. A lot in government don't even question it because they don't feel it's their remit to decide what is and isn't "in the interest of national security." The DOD knows this and exploits it.
It will take me a couple months to get this piece done, so don't wait for me. I will want to chat with you about your perspective on the limitations the FAA is working under, though.
In my article on this crash, which I am already laying the groundwork for, I will talk about these factors.
