Re-looked version of Strahd von Zarovich, by Ben Oliver. Feels like too young, a bit too similar to Record of Lodoss War's Ashram, clealy with an anime touch.

The original style was more mature, more serious.
The new one seems like an anime-themed version, similar to Record of Lodoss War's Ashram.

Because it's almost always the story is almost always this sort of binary story of well there's this thing we liked about this technology but then it had this other effect we weren't expecting. And so like now we have to kind of balance the two. It's usually that simple. It's email is nicer than a fax machine. It's pretty convenient. I'm happy it's here. Oh my god, but there's this side effect that we get too many of them and we're distracted. AI is such a messy story that makes that question it's it's a very complicated question because it's many different technologies that we all call AI. They're all developing on uh different timelines. They all have their own issues in the present that are worthy of huge amounts of discussion and push back. And then they all have extrapolated future issues that go from like slightly worse versions of the present to all of humanity is dead in two years. And all of this is mixed up with like a cast of characters that are acting like Bond villains. And it really gets pretty difficult. I missed email say like hey we get too many emails. [...] It's a chaos machine.

[Concerns] that I care quite a bit about is the disappearance of truth and the disappearance of focus or concentration as a human ability.

And this this brain that we rewired to be to be able to to consume written information and to produce written information, it's a different brain. It is a different brain than we had 10,000 years ago, right? We we have completely rewired the brain. But that rewired brain that can do what Marann Wolf calls deep reading processes is literally a smarter brain that sees the world in a more complicated way and is capable of the type of sophisticated reasoning and abstraction that our current modern world requires to function. So it's not for nothing to lose that brain. If you begin to really degrade that wiring, it really makes it going to make it difficult for the way our civilized world runs today. We're going back closer to a pre-modern brain which is not playing nice or will not play nice with the modern world.

That's the that's the other point I want to make there too, is we we have to be careful about connecting unrelated AI technologies as well, and allowing advances and wonder to reflect on others. So like yeah, cancer diagnosis, protein folding, these are completely different technologies than language models, right?

I was scrolling on GOG, saw the links to the "Vampire Therapist" video game, and my brain was immediately overwhelmed by disgust.

I really like the raw power/flexibilty of the Attribute + Skills system of the original V:tM, so using an updated (and thus, I expect, better) version of the system woulud be awesome.

But my current investment 5e on my Dragonlance campaign is to high so switch to anything not 5e-adjacent.

I'm using FoundryVTT, and rely on it so much I would even use it during live sessions (which I don't do anymore as a GM).

So, for me, the recent V:tM system would **now** not be a problem to host, say, a Mass Effect campaign, or even a medieval fantasy campaign.

Thanks, but sadly, time has passed.

- My taste for V:tM has soured (for unrelated reasons)
- I was searching for a system to host a campaign
- once I settled down for a Dragonlance campaign, using D&D5e (bc of simplicity) was obvious

The worst part? Using a VTT essentially solves the dice problem.

During the conversation with Songbird, I'm given a new skill tree, related to the Relic.

I had been waiting for that since the beginning of this playthrough. I suspected I had to start Phantom Liberty for that.

You mean V:tM the tabletop RPG?

To be fair, I don't know about that. I was sad to see old V:tM go. Requiem was interesting as a rule systems, but the lore itself was "meh", compared to the previous setting.

As for the newest incarnation of V:tM, I was too intimidated by the new dice rules...

So, yeah.

Maybe a Cyberpunk RED campaign with vampires on top of it?

On the other hand, I keep being pleasantly surprised by Cyberpunk 2077.

The city is beautiful, there are many systems to explore, and the setting itself is fascinating and frightening.

It regularly makes me wonder about starting a genuine tabletop RPG Cyberpunk RED campaign in Night City.

I mean, I didn't even finish Vampire: Bloodlines 2.

Missions were a drag, repetitive. The world was sterile. The game systems were frustrating, and unrelated to the actual Vampire: The Masquerade RPG game systems.

What was the point of continuing to explore and empty world and story?

Playing #Cyberpunk2077, and despite having already finished it once, its story and its characters are still that impressive, and alluring.

I mean, I more or less remember the storyline of Judy, and yet, I can't wait to rediscover the next mission.

This never happened with #VampireBloodlines2
