Is there a way to sincerely say “I’m sorry, I didn’t realize I was asking you to do something time-consuming” without sounding horribly passive aggressive? I legitimately thought I was making a 2-second request and the person responded “maybe if i have time”

Okay it’s very embarrassing to be involved in Discourse and I’m not trying to migrate it here, but I’m genuinely baffled by this statement and need an neurotypical consult to figure out what the bottom commenter is trying to say.

My neighbor just knocked on my door because her touch-averse kitten escaped and was camped out on the landing and very scared. She was already bleeding from trying to grab him. We managed to herd him into a box and then quickly close it. I’m so glad she thought to ask and that I could help 🥹

Tigerlily used to be very afraid of feet, and would flinch/scurry away if you walked too near him. Several times in the past weeks I’ve been puttering around and looked down to see him loafing near my feet, seemingly unthreatened. 🥲
