I always introduce Fiona as my granddaughter. The most spoiled of my grandchildren. ๐
I am so very sorry. I hope you can take some comfort in memories of the good life you gave Boomer, and the good life Boomer gave you.
My wife and I watch a few Cricket Chronicle clips most every evening after supper. In fact, Fiona knows that when we shut them off, it's time to go for our walk. ๐
Dumb? This is a sheltie! Shelties always know best!
If he is barking at you, clearly you are doing something incorrectly. ๐
๐I doubt that Tallie thinks pets are integral, rather that a particular sheltie is integral.
My old vet (a sheltie fan) told me that shelties firmly believe their people could never survive without their expert supervision.
We are particularly taken with
"Can I Wake Up Kevin?" (I think the action sequence is real, not staged)
"The Starvation Symphony" (reminds us of our Fiona)
"She Stole My Bread"
Actually a few notes lower than Fiona. But the same tune.
My wife and I watch The Cricket Chronicles every night. Some of the skits are hilarious, but the outtakes showing the dogs just being themselves are even better. Biscuit looks to be quite the character.
Ha! My current sheltie can walk by dozens of geese, no problem. Then one in particular sets her off and she'll chase it for hundreds of yards trying to make it behave.
Shelties have a unique perspective on things.
Welcome to my world. My shelties have always believed themselves to be an integral part of anything to do with beds and shoes.
What a cute pup!
Fiona would go nuts. She always thought they needed herding, but since one ran into our (nearly motionless) car, she has known it to be her responsibility to squeak ferociously at the mere sight of one.
Ah, that's different. Yeah, we've trimmed our shelties pretty short in warm weather, but they can have that problem in the cold weather months.
Oh, what a sad looking pup. :(
I have to wonder what his confusion is. Eating random poop, sure. But this is unusual.
I am so sorry for your loss.
Yes, if you're "connected" to your dog, attend to their moods and such routinely, I think it just comes naturally to notice when they've had enough cold. Maybe not puppies or especially berserk dogs (parallel to humans), but otherwise.
But I do worry dogs with less attentive owners.
Great pics!!!
I know that exact look!
Fiona starring in The Sheltie in Winter. Peter O'Toole, eat your heart out. #sheltie #dogsofsky
I am so sorry.
In my experience, shelties have a very strong drive to stay connected moment-to-moment with their person. And they are smart. So I would expect them to learn hand signals quite readily.
That poor abused pup!
๐
Yeah, shelties more than any other dogs we have had just HATE to be left alone. I can mollify Fiona when I leave with a chew, but when I get back, she tells me off and herds me vehemently for 10 minutes. Interestingly enough, this doesn't happen if her Corgi friend is with her.
I get that exact look from Fiona. But she is clearly saying, "I know you could spare a hand for a tummy rub. Or at least an ear scratch."
Yes, they are very smart dogs.
That's odd. My sheltie LOVES deferred rewards. As long as she also gets some now.๐
Looks like both ears to me. ๐
That's what makes my sheltie the perfect birdwatching companion. She wants to stay with me, no way she is going to take off while I stare at a tough to ID bird.
Of course, in her mind, she is supervising because I could never survive without her. (Not a totally inaccurate assessment)
Sheltie Island!
I don't just want to see the movie, I want to live there!
