The Sword is seriously one of the best levels in any video game maybe ever
laughing man logo with the text replaced to read "my main goal is to blow up and then act like i don't know nobody"
they stole an hour from women
Reminder that the Soviet government was the only government at the time trying to liberate women from domestic work by providing more domestic services on a socialized scale like worker canteens and kitchens etc
Underrated that just about every single *serious* diplomatic historian or ex-diplomat, even American ex-diplomats, will admit that American monopolization of the Middle East peace process is actually a primary impediment to the realization of that peace.
Casey Edwards ™M @ComposerCasey Follow ... NOTHING SPECIAL?! I think the phone call went more like "as you know Vergil is an extremely important and beloved character of this franchise. He needs a song to match." Me: **sweat nightmares and pulling my hair out for weeks** Kubilay @resonmon • May 29, 2021 @ComposerCasey Capcom: We need you to make another song for another character. It doesn't have to be anything special. Casey Edwards: Gotcha! Casey Edwards: Bury the Light
Every time I see those stupid “it’s just a silly game the song didn’t need to go that hard” memes I’m always reminded of Casey Edwards describing making Bury the Light for Devil May Cry 5
The RPG that can be played 1000 times.
Torneko No Daibouken - Fushigi No Dungeon, 1993, ChunSoft for Super Famicom
The first Mystery Dungeon game. Based on my favorite part of my favorite Dragon Quest, Torneko's story! It isn't the love of adventuring, it's making money!

i feel like in the rush to condemn windows 11, people have forgotten just how much windows 10 also sucks ass. for the past several months, if I shut down my computer instead of hibernating it, it would blue screen on startup. and it was caused by a windows update. what the hell
he's so tough
i have got to make a neocities page
imagine it sucks generational ass and people organize derisive watch parties every year and throw spoons at the screen
hey sorry i couldn't help but notice you're trans on account of your halo and your beautiful, delicate wings
emulation is an act of preservation, a good port is an act of restoration, and a good remake is an act of adaptation
example of great restorative work: anything on the kex engine
example of great adaptational work: the final fantasy 7 remake trilogy
in my opinion remakes should strive to be one or the other. Trying to do both won't work because restoring and adapting are conflicting goals
We should drop the terms remake and remaster entirely in favor of more clarifying terminology. When discussing video games as art I think it's much better to understand remakes as either restorations or adaptations. The rest of the discussion (whether it succeeds at either) should follow naturally
“Snake, don't worry about it. There's more to being a good person than just having a stereo television. You can do it just the way you are!”
A pep talk for those with 14" portable CRTs and a mono speaker.

A wordless RPG containing the instructions for the creation and destruction of itself, which were then followed to the letter (Mixed Media, February 2026)
my plans for the week? well, i'm planning a day trip to the parallel universe where the wachowskis transitioned after Bound instead of the Matrix. Been catching up on their 2021 netflix sleeper where Grace Jones plays the cruel older ingenue in an adaptation of Belle Epoque decadent classic Monsieur Vénus. Firm 9 but I wish they'd kept the coda where she made love to Paul Dano's feminized corpse as a sort of realdoll. Obviously there are better Rachilde adaptations in the multiverse but they're all locked behind the Trotsky victory divergence and who can afford streaming fees in those, right

Context is that the opening arguments for this suit is parroting the old 90s talking point abt video game violence. I don't really care about the gambling one way or the other. Valve is one of the more mild cases of child gambling in the industry lol
it is necessary that we be desensitized to real world violence, otherwise we might see what's happening in Palestine, Afghanistan, Iraq, Vietnam, or even Minneapolis and Portland as wrong
video games do not cause real world violence. rather, our society's art is hyperviolent because we are desensitized to real world violence

Namely, The Stanley Parable and Deltarune's Weird Route are both metacommentaries on the way games react when we 'play along' them vs when we 'play against' them. I think a good game that measures up to scrutiny should support both styles of play.
Games can and should be stronger than that. They can be broader than that. Some games already are! Some games have even commented pretty heavily on this tendency and this divide.
