Project Play survey: Youth with disabilities need sports more but play less - Project Play Among children who play sports, those with disabilities annually participate almost one month less in practices or competitions than their peers without disabilities. The lack of play can be impactful...

Children with disabilities play sports far less than their peers. The lack of play can be impactful. Parents of children with disabilities see their child’s health worsen more without sports. How do we fundamentally change our mindset about disabilities? projectplay.org/news/project...

Super early question: where would you rank Ben Rice at 1B next season? I have Cal Raleigh as a keeper with 18th round value, so drafting Rice would mean 1B or CI.

Malik shows promise. He’s making very fast and good decisions. The ball comes out fast. Also it’s FAU. And those 11 first half penalties … yikes. But Terps after the 1st quarter are doing what they need to do against a bad opponent.

Time to drop Miller. Who do you like more ROS, Zebby or Giolito?

Have a great night, Andy. You’re doing terrific work.

Let’s stop putting the onus on Orioles fans to be louder and show up more. Going to games is very expensive and takes a lot of time out of people’s lives. If the Orioles show that they care as much as fans do, they’ll draw more crowds. It’s really that simple.

Now the Padres are averaging 42,000 fans per game. From 1992-99, the Orioles averaged 42,000 fans or more. Granted, that was a different time before the Nationals and Camden Yards was new. But the Orioles actually tried to win it all and invested in players.

In 2021, the Padres averaged 27,000 fans per game. Since then, they signed Tatis long-term, traded for Soto, re-signed Machado, and made many other significant moves. The Padres don’t just say they want to win a World Series. They act like it.

This really isn’t hard to understand. It’s not bells and whistles. It’s acquiring and keeping good players. Show fans that you’re truly trying to win and Camden Yards will be rocking. From 2012-14, Baltimore drew more fans than San Diego while going for it with playoff runs.

Addison Barger or Ben Rice to take Carroll’s spot? Barger sitting recently with the hip concerns me. I can’t quit Rice, especially with all righties projected for next week.

Project Play survey: 11% of sports parents believe their child can go pro - Project Play More than half of sports parents feel some or lots of pressure to have their child specialize in one sport, but today the source of that pressure is less often the chase for professional careers or NC...

Only a very small number of high school athletes will play pro sports. Yet 1 in 10 youth sports parents think their child can go pro, and 2 in 10 view Division I college sports as realistic, according to a survey by the Aspen Institute. projectplay.org/news/project...

This is the single biggest reason the Orioles’ rotation is a disaster. Elias will not draft pitchers early. I appreciate this as a fantasy strategy. But if you do it every year in real life, you better have a great pitching development program or be willing to trade prospects for pitching.

Also, Rasmussen faces the Marlins next week. Great matchup but not sure I can trust him.

11.05.2025 22:37 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

What is Rasmussen’s FIP after today? Thoughts on whether to hold him as RP in points league? Very disappointing lately without strikeouts and giving up homers. I wonder if he’s not right.

11.05.2025 22:34 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

100% accurate. Elias is afraid to take risks and unwilling to lose future value. He can’t part with prospects he loves. He can’t overpay on contracts that may help in the short term and later become bad. It’s maddening and it’s losing fans.

Herrera is very interesting. But I have no way to roster him with Raleigh at catcher. When is Herrera supposed to return off IL?

04.05.2025 23:47 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

No mention of Maikel Garcia. Is that because his roster rate is too high for consideration? He’s available in my 10-team league.

04.05.2025 23:45 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

Thoughts on Maikel Garcia? His Statcast page is surprisingly impressive and 3 hits + 3 steals today. I probably need to add a 2B with Westburg & Campbell hurt. Garcia or Lux in points league?

Drop Roupp for Gonsolin? Roupp has 2 starts next week as RP in points but he looks more like a project at this point.

Project Play survey: Parents justify sport specialization so their child can play in high school - Project Play More than half of sports parents feel some or lots of pressure to have their child specialize in one sport, but today the source of that pressure is less often the chase for professional careers or NC...

One in five young athletes play their primary sport more than nine months a year - and one in ten plays one sport year-round, despite expert recommendations to play multiple sports. The main reason parents give? The fear of not making a high school team. projectplay.org/news/project...

Fantasy questions:

1) How would you rank these RPs at the moment β€” Ryan Walker, Justin Martinez, Luke Weaver?

2) Suarez or Noelvi Marte in points league as speculative bench bat to maybe start ahead of Caminero?

You have more faith in the offense than I do. There’s definitely talent and they’ll have some hot games. But it’s very inconsistent. Basically none of their most talented hitters are in their prime yet. And there’s a lot of swing and miss. O’s really could have used Alex Bregman.

As someone who consistently
watches and follows the Orioles, I don’t see it in 2025. There is no one coming to the rescue for the rotation anytime soon that would resemble the Astros’ 2024 rotation. It’s a very flawed roster too reliant on young hitters & old pitchers. Feels like a lost season.

What do you make of Abbott? Reese Olson or Abbott? I picked up Abbott last night after seeing his dominance in person against my sorry Orioles. Abbott feels like mostly a 2-start pitcher only in a points league. I may be able to live with that.

Three Jewish coaches reach a Final Four, 20 years after that day at a deli Auburn’s Bruce Pearl, Florida’s Todd Golden and Duke’s Jon Scheyer share a common bond as they gather in San Antonio for Saturday’s national semifinals.

With antisemitism on the rise, including on college campuses since October 7, it’s ironic and meaningful for three Jews to be coaching in the Final Four. www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2025/...

Would you rather have Max Meyer or Casey Mize moving forward? I like Meyer’s stuff better. Tigers win more games.

Would you rather buy a lottery ticket on Walker or Casey Mize?

02.04.2025 17:00 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

I heard your interest for Jordan Walker. There is immense talent there. He’s on my waiver wire in 10-team points league. But the only hitter I could drop is Kristian Campbell. Or I drop a pitcher like Sugano, but that means 3 bench hitters. Either worth dropping for Walker as a lottery ticket?

Well done. I recall you raving about Suarez unlike Scott. Before Opening Day, I put in claims for Jose Berrios and Suarez. I got Berrios but not Suarez. Sigh.
