I checked this out and downloaded the app. And it is very cool. Very useful resource for World historians. Great job. Much better than doom scrolling!
Look it's DOGE at work
βIn Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Those affected receive a small apartment & counselling with no preconditions. 4 out of 5 people affected make their way back into a stable life. And all this is CHEAPER than accepting homelessness.β
That about sums it up
Interesting trivium on the dapper gentleman's penant. Dialectica and Katholica instead of logic and rhetoric. Maybe that's why he is blushing?
NEW: Senator Marshall (R-KS) RUNS AWAY, fleeing his own town hall after being asked about DOGE firing Veterans. MAKE HIM GO VIRAL.
When I teach the rise of Hitler in World History, students are often surprised that: 1. he didn't actually brainwash anyone but was popular, 2. he took power legally, 3. he pretty much told everyone what he was going to do beforehand, and 4. that he made a deal with the Russians. JS

Disgraceful Oval Office tactics. Vance played the bullying headmaster, not one statesman talking to another. He was rude and used untrue statements about a man who has repeatedly and humbly thanked the American People. It is shameful to sell support to "allies" in return for their countries assets.
My stepfather, Prof. David Shotter, would have absolutely adored this find. He was a Trustee or something at Vindolanda. He was like a cheeky schoolboy pointing out the fascinus on his Hadrian's Wall tours.

Gov Hochul on congestion pricing and the orange menace's monarchical pretensions
"New York hasn't labored under a king in over 250 years, and we are not, we sure as hell are not gonna start now. The streets of the city where battles were fought, we stood up to a king and we won then. In case you don't know New Yorkers, we're in a fight, we do not back down - not now, not ever,"π
A study of ancient DNA from people who lived in Europe between 1700 and 45,000 years ago suggests that 63 per cent of them had dark skin and 8 per cent had pale skin, with the rest somewhere in between.
I just got home from this rally. We had 22 Senators and Reps there.
I introed each MoC & asked them one question: Will you withhold your vote on a funding bill until the constitutional crisis is over? 16 of 17 who spoke agreed on the spot.

Immigration cartoon
Too true!
How do you feel about giving a historical Indigenous individual a culturally appropriate name for the sake of making them relatable and talking about their recorded experience equally alongside other Indigenous individuals for whom we do have names? Crass? Dumb? Okay? Never okay? I'm white.
His couch or mine?
Portrait of Enrico Dandolo
Is this the most carnage caused by a Doge since Enrico Dandolo sacked Constantinople in 1204?
The Lion fighting figure here is most often described as David defending his flock (note sheep above shoulder), but looking again he has amazing curly hair putting me in mind of Samson fighting the lion of Timnath. Perhaps a borrowed rendering of Samson made over into David by adding a sheep?

Monkey's assembling a trestle table. Upper Rhineland, 1480-90, glass, vitreous paint, silver stain (that's the lovely rich yellow. In the moralistic Physiologus Bestriary written 2nd-4th cent., Alexandria monkeys had no tails and were seen to be like the devil, since he has a beginning but no end.
