BTW, 6 years ago I wrote a vision statement for Tellick (my humble company) that defined three technologies we wanted to focus on: AI, XR and the decentralized internet. I still think Europe can win the technology battle for the latter two. AI might be too late now.

Absolutely. Additionally, every startup in Europe is built on US platforms, such as iOS, Android, AWS, Azure. Europe's dependency on US tech is a risk factor we need to address as soon as possible.

Microsoft did it best with XBLA I think. Having these games in a seperate channel helps to distinguish indies from regular games, while at the same time providing them with a platform to release on. Too bad Microsoft changed that with Xbox One and never brought it back.
