Two #NovaScotia budget cut points on my mind today.
1. They are flooding the zone w/so many cuts, knowing theyβll not get them all, but theyβll get a ton through anyway.
2. Itβs time to talk about a wealth tax.

You notice how quiet China has been?
That's because you never interfere with an enemy who is in the process of destroying himself.
Exactly.
There, fixed it

βChatGPT, give me some nonsense I can say out loud.β
Anyway, follow & read @timbousquet.bsky.social for the best coverage on this. Budgets ARE ideological artifacts. The Houston gov and their cronies are desperately afraid of taxing the rich but, guess what, it works. Just one example: www.governing.com/transportati...
The Ford Pinto had a death rate of 85 people for 10 million cars sold. The Cybertruck hasn't sold 10 million, but the fatality rate so far maths out to 1,452 people killed per 10 million sold.
The Cybertruck may be the deadliest road car, for the occupants, ever sold.

But WHERE is their plan to raise more revenue from extractive corporations and the wealthiest 10% among us? This was the plan all along, especially since the last election was called by Houston.
Which tells me it is not about actually creating a budget that serves the people of the province. It's a budget that is trying to further the project of concentrating power and wealth in the fewest number of hands as possible. #NovaScotia
Where is the movement to raise taxes on extractive corporations and the wealthiest people? Budget reporting seems to be all about cuts instead of strategically raising public funds for the public good. There are proven strategies out there for the picking.

βIs there a technology the left is excited about?β
High-speed rail! MRNA vaccines! New cancer treatments! Solar and wind energy collection! Better and longer-range EVs! That wood that's harder than steel! New apples! Fibermaxxing! Buldak Swicy ramen! Muppets! Muppets are too a technology, shut up!

I think these challenges can be navigated if approached in a collaborative way. Now, if we end up with #AMOC collapse sooner than later, all bets are off (on a number of fronts!).
This is so infuriating. They are essentially penalizing transit users (and deterring potential users) by raising fares & cutting service. How about more aggressive wealth taxes on individuals and corporations; a strategy which has worked a charm in other jurisdictions (despite the faux outrage).
What could possibly go wrong? π³

Itβs actually really easy to not be in the Epstein files, some of us do it every day
We totally need a "pick 5 from the list" for this price, "pick 10" for this price...etc. Plus reconfigure your 5 or 10 bundled subs up to X times a year.
