Near Kyoto is the Fushimi Inari Shrine. Inari's avatar is a fox and this is the head shrine for Japan's 30K fox shrines. It's also famous for the 10,000 torii along its summit trail to Mt. Inari. I couldn't verify the number of gates myself, as dogs can't count.
