1 week remaining until my #deadline to finish this #rewrite.

I think I might actually make it! 😲
#Writing #Revising #Editing
My edits have succeeded in trimming my 99,000 word manuscript to 89,000 words! I have 15 more chapters to #revise, so let’s see how many more words I can cut. 😈 🔪
#editing
I have 16 chapters left to #rewrite & 17 days until my (self-imposed) deadline to finish this draft. Honestly, the fact that I feel like I still have a chance to make it at this point, is motivating me to keep going more & more every day.
#Revising Accountability Post
Today I cut about 3,600 words from my MS, which bring my total to 7,241 out of the 30,000 I’m trying to cut.

Me peeping to revise this 10 page chapter: This word count is going down!
Thank you!
#Rewrite Progress
How it started: I am going to cut 30,000 words from this manuscript! ✂️
How it’s going: I added a new chapter! ✍️ 🤨
I’m hopeful that adding a chapter here will help me delete large portions of later chapters. But honestly, who knows. 🤷♀️

You know it’s been a good #writing day when you’re eager to get to sleep just so you can wake up and get back to writing again. ☺️
I FINALLY GOT THROUGH THE CHAPTER THAT’S BEEN BLOCKING ME FOR MONTHS!!!!!!
I’m going to celebrate with a cookie then get back to rewriting. I’m so happy. 😁

My Writing Process
When I have hours to write: struggle to work through plot issues, slow pacing, feel stuck - little gets written
When I’m leaving/going to bed in 5 minutes: plot holes solved, pacing problems fixed - scribbles notes hoping I remember it all tomorrow
#Writing #Editing
Thank you!
Thank you! I believe the pacing is better now. I made a pretty big change to one of the chapters that cut the majority of it & replaced it with something that I believe moves the plot along better. We’ll see what happens as I get closer to the middle.

Sure. I’m not ready for that yet, but when I am I’ll let you know. 😊
I’ve shared about half of it with my critique group, and my agent did sent it to some publishers. That’s why we agreed to pause sending it out & rewrite it to try to fix things based on the feedback.
Ultimately 60k words. But at this point I’m going to call anything under 70k a win for me. 😆
Thanks
I’m rewriting it because it’s about 30k words too long for middle grade.
For the record, I got 1 chapter (9 pages) edited.
That’s awesome! Congratulations!
My editing accountability post: I have about 2 hours to edit, let’s see how many pages I can get through.

Not to brag, but I just fixed an issue in my MS that has been bothering me for the past 5 drafts. It might be little, but I’m proud of me.

Another 0.5 chapter rewritten & another 216 words cut.

The Challenge: Complete my rewrite & cut 30k words.
The Deadline (self imposed): 3/7/26
Current progress: 1.5 chapters rewritten, 709 words cut.

My overwriting self cut 4 whole lines from chapter 1 of my latest draft. I made lots of other edits too, but I’m trying to cut 30k words from my book, so removing 4 whole lines feels like progress.
I knew there was a reason I love both those shows so much!
Also, perhaps during that time period, shows demonstrated the word so well they don’t need to say it.
Sometimes when I feel stuck with my own MS, it helps to give my writer friends feedback on their work. Seeing their efforts & progress, and hearing their encouragement to me makes a big difference. #CritiquePartners #WriterFriends #Motivation
Thank you! And that makes sense.
