I’ve heard another issue to keep an eye on with the fully electric buses is since they don’t have an engine, they need separate diesel heaters. Since heaters aren’t regulated as strictly as diesel buses, they can actually end up producing more emissions in the winter than a diesel bus would.

Minnesota has no need of groundhogs to gauge the changing of the seasons. We have our own special weirdos 😂

Signs of spring in Minneapolis: man spotted walking his dog around the lake wearing only his boxer shorts.

So if the word “ice” is being taken, and ice is hielo in Spanish, could we call frozen water “amarillo” now? Another strong alternative from a friend of mine is “slippy cubes”, but that really just works for the version you put in water.

The luxury we have at my state job is fridges and microwaves. When I started, neither was paid for by the state so a volunteer had to go around with an envelope to collect contributions to a fund for communal purchase of them for the office. Coffee makers + coffee are still communally funded.

Have always, and will forever be a fan of this bird. In my head it’s saying something along the lines of “Fuck you and whatever you think ‘Art’ is”, but it’s so adaptable!! Would legitimately buy a set of blank stationary featuring this guy 😂

I just stopped at La Estancia bakery, right near the Orange line in Bloomington and it was delightful. Gorgeous as well as tasty pastry, and a lovely and kind shopkeeper who clearly takes pride in their bakery.

Sorry to dump in your comments about it, but I guess I’m feeling a lot of feelings about it. It’s encouraging that maybe we did learn something from all of that that’s serving us well now: We Help Us

A husk of a formerly 4ish story brick building with smoking rubble inside. Regular people with work gloves and masks and a case of bottled water are right next to remaining multi-story high brick walls that have almost no internal structure left to support them. Just out of site are people with brooms, shovels and trash bags they brought, cleaning up sidewalks. Red “Danger” tape stretches from a non-functioning traffic light, not really delineating any particular area.

A photo of the intersection of Lake St and 27th Ave with a few cars and people pitching in as they are able: sweeping the cross-walk with brooms from home, someone standing next to a spray painted sign saying “Breakfast” and an SUV with its trunk hatch open and various food boxes and a large bowl. Others appear to be just trying to take it in. Burned out Auto-zone behind.

Smoke blackened 4-story brick building with only outside walls left standing. Smoking rubble visible inside. Light streams through the arched holes where windows were from the inside because there’s no roof. A pile of trash bags, probably filled with rubble swept up off the sidewalk, sits on the curb. Lots of people walking around further away in the intersection.

Burnt out single story brick post office. Only a few of the outside brick walls remain standing. Large chunks of concrete rubble litter the ground around it. Smoke wafts through openings where doors and windows were.

I get why the article uses the shorthand, but many of the other buildings in that neighborhood actually did “burn down” because the fire department refused to respond. The community had to try to do what they could and to make it safe after. Most of city government wasn’t part of that community.

Read the room is right! Who even are these people needing to be centered and thanked? Right now my questions are Are you my neighbor? Are you helping and protecting my neighbors? If not, then GTFO.

Art supply store, depending on what. If used good condition binders would work, I might be able to get you some, depending on quantity and timing.

First, I want to extend my gratitude to all the people
who have reached out from across the country and around the world to support our family.
This kindness of strangers is the most fitting tribute because if you ever encountered my wife, Renee Nicole Macklin Good, you know that above all else, she was kind, In fact, kindness radiated out of her.
Renee sparkled. She literally sparkled. I mean, she didn't wear glitter but I swear she had sparkles coming out of her pores. All the time. You might think it was just my love talking but her family said the same thing. Renee was made of sunshine,
Renee lived by an overarching belief: there is kindness in the world and we need to do everything we can to find it Where it resides and nurture it where it needs to grow Renee was a Christian who knew that all religions teach the same essential truth: we are here to love each other, care for each other, and keep each other safe and whole.
Like people have done across place and time, we moved to make a better life for ourselves. We chose Minnesota to make our home. Our whole extended road trip here, we held hands in the car while our son drew all over the windows to pass the time and the miles,

What we found when we got here was a vibrant and welcoming community, we made friends and spread joy: And while any place we were together was home, there was a strong shared sense here in Minneapolis that we were looking out for each other. Here, I had finally found peace and safe harbor. That has been taken from me forever.
We were raising our son to believe that no matter where you come from or what you look like, all of us deserve compassion and kindness. Renee lived this belief every day. She is pure love. She is pure joy. She is pure sunshine
On Wednesday, January 7th, we stopped to support our neighbors. We had whistles. They had guns.
Renee leaves behind three extraordinary children; the youngest is just six years old and already lost his father. I am now left to raise our son and to continue teaching him, as Renee believed, that there are people building a better world for him. That the people who did this had fear and anger in their hearts, and we need to show them a better way.
We thank you for the privacy you are granting our family as we grieve. We thank you for ensuring that Renee's legacy is one of kindness and love. We honor her memory by living her values: rejecting hate and choosing compassion, turning away from fear and pursuing peace, refusing division and knowing we must come together to build a world where we all come home safe to the people we love. There isn’t any place anywhere near where Renee Good was murdered that looks at all like this either.

I live here and the interviews are pretty accurate. Minnesotans are a rational people and not super expressive of emotion, but people are really scared, and people are really pissed off.

I think The Wienery, and Red Sea on the west bank have been around over 20 years. Mel-O-Glaze, if you’re including bakeries.

Seeing Davis, Fateh, and Hampton at a forum is such a breath of fresh air. They have different ideas and focus, but discuss like adults capable of listening to and valuing people with different viewpoints. This is how we make our city better for everyone. You can see it’s possible by watching them.

How does the fence look? I remember there being a bit of a controversy when that station first went in because they did all this engagement around the architectural design and then slashed the budget for it once they got the approval for the station to go in. I think people felt tricked.
