Last week I had the pleasure of presenting our new ‘MDS’ framework for reintroduction planning (onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...) at the 2nd ECR Conference in Conservation Biology, organized by @scbitaly.bsky.social.

Today we dove into the world of ecological modelling with some truly impressive studies! From SDMs to connectivity analyses, these talks showcased how models can drive real-world conservation impact. #ECR2025

Last week, I successfully defended my PhD in Environmental Science. 🏞️
My thesis focused on how the distribution of key European species is shifting across space and time, using ecological modeling.

This underlines how in the future it will be essential to preserve ecological corridors in the creation of new protected areas, as also stated by several objectives of the EU's #biodiversity strategy for 2030.

💥 The key finding is that there are several potential corridors that could potentially enhance gene flow between #lynx populations, but most of these corridors are not protected 🚫

Restoring and mantaining connectivity, is crucial for the Eurasian lynx conservation in Europe. In this study, we assessed functional connectivity both between subpopulations and protected areas (PAs), using circuit-theory techniques. 📃
