Caitlin KALINOWSKI over X

I resigned from OpenAl. I care deeply about the Robotics team and the work we built together.
This wasn't an easy call. Al has an important role in national security. But surveillance of Americans without judicial oversight and lethal autonomy without human authorization are lines that deserved more deliberation than they got. This was about principle, not people. I have deep respect for Sam and the team, and I'm proud of what we built together.

OpenAI head of robotics just resigned over company deal with the Pentagon saying…

My question is HOW have auto manufacturers not figured out that there's a large market for bare bones vehicles? Give me a $20,000 1990 Hyundai Excel with a tape deck. I dont care if I have to roll the windows down and have no backup cameras.

Regardless of how people "feel" about the change, I think decisions should be based purely on evidence. Ignoring science in favour of "feelings" is not smart government.

A children's hospital is renamed for Dolly Parton and hopes to transform pediatric care in Tennessee Dolly Parton’s name might inspire full-throated sing-a-longs to her working woman’s anthem β€œ9 to 5,” or evoke memories of thrilling days spent at her Dollywood theme park.

β€œDolly Parton Children’s Hospital did not share how much Parton donated as part of the naming announcement. But Matt Schaefer, its president and CEO, said her support would ensure β€˜every child who walks through our doors receives the treatment they deserve.’”

GOD BLESS DOLLY PARTON

I wasn't going to weigh in on this because there's a lot of other battles rn - but this part of the clip is important.

This is the type of hubris from credentialed folks that we need to end. Airborne viruses don't care whether you have a PhD

Is she not understanding that vaccines dont prevent transmission!?!?!? And even then, that vaccine protection wanes after a few months and that likely these "smart PhDs" are probably only getting 1 vax per year and that covid is not seasonal?? JFC. So many layers!!!

The drunk uncle theory.

You don’t argue with the casually homophobic uncle at Thanksgiving dinner to change his mind; you argue so that the closeted cousin at the kids table knows there’s safe people and better possibilities out there

Not a single thing we were told about #COVID turned out to be correct. A long thread 🧡

No regulations for you! Otherwise how would our capitalist overlord billionaire tech bros continue to drive the AI stock bubble in order to overvalue the entire market so that governments are beholden to their every demand?

Well someone's "belief" doesnt factor in. I would like to understand the science. At this point in the pandemic you'd have to have been a total hermit to avoid it completely if you're not masking. And I doubt such a huge % of people are hermits.

Im so shocked that I havent seen a study. It might unlock some kinda secret that could help inform a method to stop transmission. Id be curious if i were a scientist.

I remember a peer reviewed study that tested the blood of people who "never had covid" and it turned out that something like 80% did in fact have covid. Cant remember what year. But there does appear to be a small% who are totally immune to it. I dont think science understands why yet. Do you?

Thank you @susanholtnb.bsky.social for the leadership in leaving a very toxic tech platform. Hopefully you will inspire others across Canada to follow.

This should be the absolute bare minimum of action. If politicians cant stop using a platform that exploits children (among a long list of evils) then we have completely and utterly lost the plot.

Same as the consumer carbon tax. Didnt stop them from trying to convince everyone it was fully responsible. So glad that's gone now and everything is so cheap again!

A meme i know you will love Erin. Except I would change it to read "On a long enough time line, the disability rate for everyone rises to 100%". Raw dogging the air absolutely shortens that time line. No mask? FAFO.

This shit hits like a sledgehammer right now. It's not even remotely an exaggeration.
