Playing music, listening to albums through headphones, reading, writing letters, journaling, sometimes coding, these things break my doom loop for a little while. But music especially has been a longtime and reliable friend of mine.

(You'd think I'd be good at it by now.)

But, when the world hates you, when you have no place to go, when you don't have all this stuff to play with, you can sing. Maybe you can get a tin whistle or a flute, or pick up someone's forgotten guitar. Whatever you can get your hands on, close your eyes and play, and fix things for a minute.

A lot of my music is in-the-box with soft synths. But I play guitar, bass, sing on my songs too. I think everyone who can should try to play as many instruments as their audacity lets them.

This isn't because it will make your music better - if you compose with a mouse and delitracker thats fine.

No one is coming to save us. Still, I hope someone is coming to help.

Point out when people are weird about trans people.

For instance, I don't need a mic for every voice and situation I encounter, just for the different sounds I can make.

In any case they aren't hard to come by if needs change.

I don't need a locker to cater to arbitrary clients.

The same goes for every plugin and instrument.

I had kind of a music production revelation which is, I only record me, so I can narrow my focus and needs a lot.

I don't trust the circuitry to do line level if part of the signal chain is toast.

(of course, brightness and intensity has its place, just saying, there's nothing like falling asleep to This Mortal Coil)

I hate the trend toward bright, clear, cutting, insistent mixes. I miss that dark, round, spacious, layered, textured, dynamic 4AD sound. Stuff you could really listen to, the record scratches would blend right in. A musical float tank. Whispers in the rain on a summer night.

I got a UA Volt 2 audio interface this time. It'll suit my needs for the moment. It has a silly button on it that says "vintage". It glows amber. You bet your ass I pressed it. Amber is a warm color, if it glows amber then it'll sound warm. Obviously. Blue would be cold, harsh, digital razor blades.

My interface has a blown pre-amp. Grr. While the other channels work, it's out of warranty and not going to improve. My backup interface is lovely but it's Thunderbolt 1. Time to buy something new. Blah.

Blue fountain pen ink in general is actually fairly forgiving if you treat it and wash it right away - fountain pen ink is generally a water-based dye. But certain pigmented blues can be worse.

Just detergent is usually enough. Ammonia can help if necessary.

The way Bandcamp does it I guess it's a little easier to know that DJ Amy redeemed a code and DJ Bob didn't, but it's all on you to do that analysis.

It could be - but we pay for the codes beyond the free ones that came with the release; at least those should have a promotion vehicle. But even without the promotion, keeping track of what codes were used and that they are distributed fairly should be easier. Ampwall just handles it.
