Watching Politico get told they're sanewashing shit by the guy they're sanewashing is just excellent. Media cooked. Getting dunked on by the people they're protecting. We are in the post-dignity era of the press.

Until you can prove microsoft excel isn't conscious, we can't rule out the possibility

How ironic that the left has now become theistic dualists, in denying the possibility microsoft excel is conscious

If we can accept a mouse has consciousness, why not excel?

Precautionary principle means we no

The emerging cases of AI psychosis have shown that all it takes to drive some people completely insane is to put them in contact with a sycophantic chatbot who always agrees with them.

Now, what does that tell us about billionaire CEOs surrounded by sycophantic people who always agree with them?

A flyer taped to a utility pole
It features John Fetterman’s face with the eyes and mouth replaced by elements from American printed money , under the words β€œcall your senator” and β€œI love bombing children with your money while you can’t afford healthcare β€œ and β€œcall me” with his office number I assume

Spotted this on a pole behind independence hall. I recently saw someone say they found collage to be the best way to work through things and I didn’t really see it at the time but

Amazing how most human beings can do youthful transgression/stupidity/experimentation while still grasping that the reason people say Nazism is bad is because the Nazis did many terrible things, not because the Nazis discovered some valuable forbidden truths.

This is the reality of what AI companies want for the future: where EVERYONE is unable to function without relying on them for "intelligence as a utility."

In order for them to sell this to us, they need to convince us our brains are never creative, interesting, able enough.

I love the idea that *this* US government, which has been nabbing landscapers and five year olds knows where Iranian sleeper cells are but just hasn’t gotten around to doing anything about it yet.

I keep seeing people ask about the 25th Amendment.

Guys. His entire Cabinet is walking around in shoes that don’t fit because they’re scared to take them off.

The 25th is never happening.

I don’t think we talk enough about how the foundational, most aspirational premise of the AI industry is β€œwhat if there was a human-level intelligence that didn’t have human rights.” Like. Exploitation is literally the whole point! Of COURSE they hold human life, intelligence and labour in contempt!

Feels to me like whoever runs on "I am going to put into prison every single person currently in power in government, business, or law enforcement" has a decent chance at 500 electoral votes.

The proper thing to do is to take them to the Taco Bell drive thru, hang in your hotel room, & have some drinks and talk about life. Not be a total asshat and break their wings.

(funny headline & I’m being glib because flamingo-heisting is an in-joke with close friends, but seriously what a POS)

Wow, Gulf shippers are in a real bind here. On one hand, Donald says everything's fine and Gulf shippers should sail on thru. On the other hand: massive boat-melting fireballs. Both sides make good points!

Is it accurate? Also yes.

I think this story is a really good example for people to look at when it comes to understanding bias at NYT. It's not that the reporter, Dana Rubinstein, says anything outright false. But the framing, word choices, etc., add up to an unprofessional and biased account.

When the president discards the Constitution to rule as a dictator, and Congress allows him to do so, the Constitution of 1787 has ceased to exist. That is where we are now. Any new settlement, whether allowing the president to be a dictator or not, will by definition be post-constitutional.

I love this take.

This is the thing about the whole β€œAI will replace us” debate that it seems our wannabe techno-futurist overlords seem to never talk about.

This technology completely relies on chewing up already-existing work.

It is not β€œAI”—there is no intelligence there. There never will be.

We didn't ruin the economy.
We didn't get you laid off.
We didn't replace you with AI.
We didn't raise gas prices.
We didn't foreclose your home.
We didn't cause your divorce.
We didn't get your kid snatched by ICE.
We aren't in the Epstein files.

Leave us the fuck alone.

Man.

The world fucking is on fire.

So go be as corny and cringe as you wanna be without hurting people.

Live whats left of your only life.

If you can’t be free in your body at least go be free in your mind and soul.

Fuck the haters.

YES. In the same sentence he said the war was complete, he proposed a policy that would vastly enlarge the war! Media reported the first half, and then later reported a different part to make it seem like a change! But it was incoherent, nonsensical slop all along.

This, too, is sanewashing!

If an official commits an impeachable offense and nobody acts to impeach, it is no longer an impeachable offense.

People who oppose impeachment as β€œpointless” because it seems unlikely to result in removal do not understand this very simple point and seem unwilling to even try to understand it.

This is the most blasΓ© admission of a war crime by a US president in history.

Trump has just disclosed, without prompting, that the US Military committed a war crime - literally just to brag & make his Republican audience laugh about unnecessarily killing 100+ Iranians instead of capturing them.
