I have written and deleted a lot of posts but I keep thinking about how the brutal assassination of Minnesota State senator Melissa Hortman, her husband Mark, and their beloved dog Gilbert in June did not prompt this same level of calls for empathy, sympathy, and flags at half-mast.
The fact that Matthew Dowd lost his job for pointing out Charlie Kirk’s hate speech, while Brian Kilmeade openly suggests we should euthanize the homeless and there is zero outrage, shows exactly what is terribly wrong with today’s political mainstream media.
Political violence is always immoral and always counterproductive for a healthy democracy. It solves nothing. It only leads to further violence and ultimately enables scapegoating of vulnerable communities. Committing acts of violence against those who disagree with us helps no one.
Utah is an open carry state.
And remember the shooting at the KC Chiefs Super Bowl parade a few years back? So many people pulled guns after the shot(s) were fired that no one was quite sure who the shooter was.
Dividing the country and pushing extremism with easy access to guns is a recipe for this. That's MAGA
