I agree 100% with Springer. Springer is for getting ready and trying new things. Winning is fun and good stats are fun, but all meaningless. Look at the spring records for the 92 & 93 teams iirc sub 500. Roden was tearing the cover off last year but couldn't hit a beach ball once it counted.

Spring games are pretty meaningless - guys are working on getting up to speed, we'll see all kinds of crazy stuff. By the end there will be someone everyone gets excited about who isn't actually all that (Roden 1245 OPS in '25), and worried about someone who will have a good year (Springer 514).

Agreed, part of what I love about spring - a chance to see if guys can handle something new with nothing at risk for the team. I remember Cecil Fielder at 3B them Williams used him there in the season. Bizarre old memories.

If he makes the team could he be used in a platoon in LF as well as backing up Vlad? Or is his OF defense too poor in your opinion?
