We've been at work for years in the legislature to obtain accountability and some measure of justice for victims of child sexual abuse, which critically includes - under Judiciary Chair McEntee's tireless advocacy - removing the civil statute of limitations on child sexual abuse. 3/3

It is gratifying to see this investigation finally come to light, though the details are sickening. The widespread sexual abuse of countless children reveals a coverup of enormous scale by church leaders in Rhode Island.

Had a great time at the SEIU Legislative Luncheon today, coming together with my legislative colleagues and representatives of the service worker union to think about how we can better serve Rhode Island.
Especially in light of yesterday's horrific tragedy, I appreciated the weight of the conversation we had around commonsense gun safety. Though we've celebrated a lot of hard-won legislative successes in that arena, it is clear that we must do more to protect and stand up for Rhode Islanders.
Pleasure to spend the evening in Cranston at Reps. Potter and Handy's Community Conversation. Their constituents raised insightful concerns ranging from the issues that are hurting everyday people to how Rhode Island can stand up to the federal government's lawless and vindictive overreach.

I am horrified by the tragic news out of Pawtucket this afternoon, where a shooter appears to have targeted his own family in a public arena full of kids. This kind of violence shatters communities. The House adjourned this evening in honor of Alex Pretti, the ICU nurse killed by federal agents last weekend. In addition to my resolution condemning ICE's unconstitutional tactics, my colleagues and I are working to introduce laws to protect Rhode Islanders from ICE's thuggish abuse of power.
Really good to spend some time with the Unitarian Legislative Ministry of RI last night to talk about how RI can protect our neighbors from ICE's unconstitutional and dangerous tactics. The GA can and should step up here.
I am thankful for the teachings of MLK and the example he set for us during his life. He shows us the path to our better selves. All we need to do is follow it.

At the Women's Bar Association event last night to honor Federal Defender Tara Allen. Tara talked defending constitutional rights, how hard it can be when the government is bent on ignoring the constitution, and the necessity of doing it - especially in times like these.
My heart goes out to the two Guardsman who were shot yesterday and their families. I’m hopeful that they recover. Their sacrifice in the line of duty will not be forgotten

I'm astounded that the feds are balking at paying for food for hungry families, elders, and kids. I'm grateful to the AG's who are fighting in court to free up this money. I hope the appeals court acts ASAP. This is not complicated. Use the money you already have and follow the law: FEED THE PEOPLE!
