Washington legislators failed to advance a data center bill designed to protect communities from higher electricity prices, grid blackouts, and environmental impacts. Tech firms lobbied against the bill, and the Senate did not act on it.
Why is the transparency provision in #HB2515 so important? In Oregon, tech giant Google fought back against releasing basic info about its data center's water use. We have a chance to pass strong legislation now to prevent this secrecy in Washington.

Washington’s Initiative I-2066 was a cynical attempt by industry to undermine energy affordability and air quality protection—and was ruled unconstitutional by a Superior Court judge last March. This morning, the WA Supreme Court is hearing arguments to put this thing to rest once and for all.
We cannot afford budget cuts on the wildfire resilience funding. Since 2021, this funding has provided support to frontline communities in meeting the challenges of catastrophic wildfires.

In late December, Governor Ferguson proposed using $569 million of CCA funds to balance budget shortfalls. This is the largest diversion of a dedicated environmental funding source we’ve ever seen. If adopted, the state will fall behind on climate action.
