anthropic has done some research on this by the way www.anthropic.com/research/dis... which I found useful to skim if only bc it gives me a mental list of failure modes to work with when I'm talking to a bot
Huge W dude, congratulations! Excited to see what youβll write
What a brave young girl. She was brave for her family and fighting for her dad until the very end.
Anyway, thank you @laurie-merrell.bsky.social for asking this question I had a lot of fun making this! and anyone pls feel free to ask whatever q's you might have about this, I love la guagua baby.
There's a few strange things happening with route 49 - Claude couldn't find the sensible data for some reason - but I sanity checked all the code and methodology (and also fed it to codex to critique). If you find an issue lmk, feel free to make an issue or add a PR!
I'm pulling data on headways automatically with Github Actions and storing it in a database in Cloudflare - I actually had to do a data migration from a local DB to Cloudflare (actually Claude did I didn't want to do that lol). The headways page updates once a day
At first we made a few Python notebooks and did all the viz in the terminal, then I realized others might want to try this too - you can see the repo here: github.com/sbahamon/bus... and try reproducing it yourself or with your agent of choice (there's instructions for humans and agents in the repo)
Got nerdsniped by this q and worked with Claude Code to answer it: sbahamon.github.io/bus-check/in... Short answer: yes, ridership has increased (for what we have data) and no, headways have not been consistent (veeeery preliminary results, come back in ~2 weeks to see if that's still the case)
Sooo many people have asked what was in the secret sauce that made CC go viral at the end of last year and I think they forget about this
For writing I try to use this chart as a heuristic: danielmiessler.com/blog/ai-infl... where anything 2 or greater I disclose and mention which tool/how they wrote for me, but it continues to surprise me when people think it's not worth mentioning
With the most robust rail network in the American Midwest, Chicago has the 2nd largest number of car-free households of any metro area (behind only NYC)
Most of those households live around the L, especially the Red Line and western parts of the Blue & Green Lines
Oh that would be SO cool - the commute modeshare one in particular I don't think I've seen for Chicago before. Looking forward to them!
this is super neat! thanks for sharing
I stopped by there about 6 months ago on a whim, it's a husband + wife pairing who are in it for the love of the game (and just them, at least 6 months ago)
BREAKING: The Trump administration repeatedly said the aggressive apartment raid in Chicago last fall was prompted by intel on a gang takeover.
New docs show the real motivation was to get alleged squatters. And the landlord and manager helped them.

great thread, thank you so much for sharing. would watch a better call saul-like series about this
actually laughed out loud at him incorporating a new railroad, sir pls just get into model trains
I think the For You feed and the fact that ATPro is so hackable has helped to bring more folks who build here, which is pretty neat!
map of ward boundaries for areas within a half-mile of an 'L' station
Because zoning is de facto controlled by the local alderperson, it's almost impossible to proactively upzone areas close to the 'L' when the ward map looks like this β¬οΈ.
State preemption is basically our only hope, and I hope the legislature picks that back up this session. We came close last year.
IMO itβs less interesting than the sims since there seems to be more model collapse - I bet it would be more interesting if we had some funky models (like the ones trained on just 18th century lit or whatever) instead of 1 Million Claudes
Huge W, congrats!!!
patio11 has been writing about this some!
I wish we had one of these in every city in the US, this is so cool thanks for sharing!
will have to report to my psychologist gf that the OpenClawds are rediscovering somatic therapy from first principles
We were so happy to have you there, Drake!
I really wish we had better AI criticisms from the left for this exact reason, that and bc the capacity for harm is So Large if the companies get their way
That being said, if there was a state or region (Cook County?) that liberalized zoning and code to make this legal I could see it selling like gangbusters.
