🌍 Jane’s Walk is a global festival of volunteer-led walks held every year on the first weekend of May, run entirely by volunteers. 💛 Thanks to community support and donations, it remains free and accessible to all.
It’s a chance to connect more deeply with your community and the people in it.
By joining and leading walks, you strengthen local knowledge, civic connection, and that vital sense of belonging. To see if there are walks in your city, visit janeswalk.org and join us this May 1st, 2nd, and 3rd!
Jane’s Walk Festival builds on these ideas by inviting people to walk together, observe their surroundings, and share stories about the places they move through every day.
Decades after Jane Jacobs wrote about the importance of everyday street life, urban research continues to support her insights. Studies on familiar strangers show that simply recognizing the same people in public spaces helps build comfort, trust, and a sense of belonging.
Wishing our Jane’s Walk community happy holidays and a wonderful New Year 2026. 🧡
Thank you for being part of this journey and for your support throughout the 2025 Festival and the year. Here’s to more walks, stories, and caring conversations that strengthen our cities. 🎊

A simple idea powers Jane’s Walk:
People coming together to share stories about the places they call home.
Jane Jacobs reminded us that presence matters. ✨
The simple act of walking, participating, and connecting with neighbours is what shapes thriving communities.
Trust and Community take time. 🌿

Jane’s Walk began in Toronto in 2007 as a grassroots tribute to Jane Jacobs — the legendary urbanist who championed people-first, community-led cities. 🌆🚶♀️
Today, it's a global movement in 500+ cities — but Toronto remains its heart. ❤️
