As a non-traditional, first-gen student, navigating my education has been interesting, to say the least. Whatβs one thing you wish you knew about grad school going in? Iβll go first. Understanding the hierarchy and expectations of academia. Also, that itβs so much more engaging than undergrad!
I would love to be added. This is such a great way to network with other seismologists, and saves so much time trying to find them!
To be clear, I know I canβt predict earthquakes. Didnβt know that when I was 12. π
When I was 10, I saw a movie that left me fascinated by the destructive power of EQs. At 12 I wrote a paper about wanting to predict EQs when I grew up. At 13 I felt my 1st big EQ, which sealed the deal. In my 40βs Iβm working on my PhD to become a seismologist! Whatβs your path? #ChildhoodDreams
When Twitter became X, I joined a number of new social media platforms in hopes that something would develop into a resemblance of what Twitter used to be. Then I waited. Iβm so happy the scientific community has agreed on a safe space, and my switch is official!
Iβve been hiding in the shadows for quite some time, waiting to see how things play out. I finally decided to make the official switch this weekend. It feels refreshing!
