Exactly. Big land is great for big toys -- rockets, drones, big trucks, 600lbs robots. But it's just like the tractor and big truck -- I just want to do what I want with them, I do not want to make a living that way. By the way, my buddy's ranch, where cell coverage is meh, has fiber to the house.

Yep. I know a number from the hacker community that live like I do -- rural/semi-rural. A few have some "hobby" level gardens and livestock, but none are trying to "do farming". That said just taking care of 20 acres is indeed a thing, but I still long for the 150 in the Ozarks my rancher buddy has.

Speaking for myself, I think many are saying "I want to retire somewhere were I can own more than a postage stamp or condo" when they say "to a farm". I mean, I'd like to retire to more than the 20 acres I've got, but I'm never going to farm anything but antennas.
