The film I directed in Montana was so remote we couldn’t drive in. It took a two hour horseback ride to reach it.
A first for me and my DP Tom (pictured here, rocking a gas-station cowboy hat).
Stepping out of your comfort zone isn’t always easy, but it’s always worth it.
Just got back from filming a project in the Montana wilderness over the span of a week.
We ate the fish we caught, bathed in rivers, and got around on the horses.

On the roof sat a guy who, in my eyes, was the coolest human alive. Quiet confidence. Cigarette in hand. A camera rig that probably cost more than his truck. He waited for the cheetah to stir.

In 2017, early in my career, I was sent to Tanzania to shoot a short adventure film in the Serengeti. While crossing the plains, my guide spotted a cheetah and parked beside a rugged vehicle with a sign: “FILMING – DO NOT FOLLOW.”
