Anyone who's waiting out a return to the old days is going to be in big trouble. It's not all doom though, because I see that folks who realize all of this are figuring out how to build a game industry that functions in the face of this new structural reality. It's just a total upheaval.

All my conversations recently support this - savvy devs and publishers realize things have shifted. You may need multiple funding partners for one game, now. Teams consist of a combo of contractors and outsourcing companies. Marketing monoculture is dead, audiences are scattered across platforms.

Folks with prior success are struggling to realize that the game industry has changed completely. It's never going back to how it was. Funding, development, and audiences have all fragmented and that is the "new normal." Only folks who have been scrapping their whole career will weather this change.

I think one of the things that bothers me the most about the way Polymarket presents itself to the world is that it's adopted the language of journalism to make itself sound more legitimate. Like look at this post from yesterday morning incorrectly "projecting" the winner.
