On this day in 1944, a 9 year old Dutch Jewish boy arrived at Auschwitz with his sister (11) after likely being betrayed in hiding. They were both murdered in the gas chamber after selection. Their parents survived the Shoah. His name was Abraham Beem

On this day in 1936, a Jewish girl was born in Paris, Poland. She was interned in Drancy and deported to Auschwitz with her mother and sister on the 16 Sep 1942 where they all perished. Her name was Simone Uboghi

So, Denys “Redis” Prokopenko, commander of the 1st Army Corps “Azov” and a distinguished hero of the Battle of Mariupol, was promoted to the rank of brigadier general today.
He is only 34 years old.
