My inner fourteen-year-old is satisfied. But I'm 48, and I shouldn't have this much time to spare, yet I make it. Darn, I really should be developing these other music projects instead. Maybe tomorrow night?
These are some of the most beautiful pixels and animation, though!

Hey, I'm operating without any hard deadlines at the moment. If I had another documentary on the docket, I just might be spending my nights differently. ππ Got any paid gigs on the horizon?
As a fan of the first two SimCity games, which I played the crap out of in the 90s, I have FINALLY gotten around to checking out RollerCoaster Tycoon ("Classic" on Switch). My only disappointment is that I was precisely 100% correct in anticipating how much of a time sink it would be. Addicted! π€π
Do any other guitar players get an itch and indulge in a bass guitar phase, every now and then? Can't be just me! I own a decent one that's fun to break out, when I do, and for the last few nights I've been practicing. Last night something clicked. So looking forward to recording some grooves soon!
If you had fun making it, your audienceβand in turn, art directors and prospective clientsβwill have fun looking at it. π¨ βοΈ
Self-taught competencies, yes! π How do we turn those into a living? Following the passions for their own sake can only get us so far. Surely the skills can be of value to others!
In realizing that I was able to complete a good dozen tracks over the course of about 5 months, last year, I'm newly inspired to kick some new recordings and mixes into gear. Call it a resolution, but I think I can get my next album (or 2) further along at a hyped pace. Good things coming this year!
The original context is about podcasts pivoting hard to video, necessitating a level of performance not originally necessary to the format. Also how this spotlights some gendered differences where it once was immune.
Many like me would remove their corporeal existence from the equation. π
As a musician with ZERO desire to "perform", I'm on this side of the social battleβmy face and personality aren't the work. I don't seek fans or followers of "me". The charisma, say, to shill myself on Tiktok is astronomically unrelated to my skills, talent, or job prospects. Sorry, record labels. π€·ββοΈ
Why can't we just have a place in society for little gremlin people who can't do anything "useful" (profitable for business owners)? Why do people with weird, creative brains have to die young just because we can't fall in line??? Why can't people just agree to take care of us and let us live.
LANDR gives me a convenient page to collect the various store platform links in one place. What's your preferred method for musical enjoyment?

Hot take for modern television music composers β¦ arranging the "theme song" on a loop at every possible opportunity β effective, dramatic leitmotif
We've HEARD the title theme! Sure, great melody ya got there! Feel free to develop it, maybe? Reharmonize it, ever? Introduce a countermelody, perhaps?
Niche lifehack, but here's something to tryβdo you get those Best Buy Reward Zone points offers, where you've earned the points but they expire? Use them to pre-order a vinyl record! When its release day comes and goes, in 14 days they'll refund your points, and THOSE won't expire!
Like a charm. π«€
Approved! The new album should be hitting the streaming places soon, for those of you who do the playlist thing or like your music "wrapped" or whatever.
Distortion, effectively. Running audio through a plugin that simulates a tube amp, or a tape machine, and the likeβor, for that matter, doing it through real analog gearβadds harmonic information to a signal. Sometimes it's good and "warm". To me it rarely sounds "better", if I can even perceive it.
I like describing it this wayβthe real masterpiece is the person you become from having made the thing.
The rumination and perspective I've gained from HAVING to take weeks to gestate an idea, or iterate on a technique, goes so much further to develop and mature my taste and identity AS an artist.
What is it with audio mixing engineers and "saturation"!? Apparently it's this magic sauce that should warm up, thicken, and glue together your mix. Yet each time I attempt to apply someβI don't know, maybe it's the genres I work in?βit just adds gross crackling crispy junk, like I used bad cables.
Thank you to the two unknown lucky redeemers! Happy listening!
For the rest of you, it still streams for free! But, also, if you DM me, you COULD still request a download code. A reward just for the active interest. π
By the way, one of my favorite tracks β¦ brimaxian.bandcamp.com/track/pixels...
The "doom" in doomscrolling for me is often less about tone or mood of information I skimβrather it's the draining energy required to parse context in reverse.
What does that post mean? Check the quote, which replies to a middle post in some thread, addressing another quote, of a dunk, on a link. π€·ββοΈ
Screenshot of two redemption codes for complimentary downloads of the Brimaxian album Under Score XP. The first code is dq56-vdwv and the second code is sgrt-gcc8, with the words "Redeem at bandcamp.com/yum" printed beneath them.
A couple complimentary download codes for my new album, exclusive to whoever first claims them. I know people don't download their music much anymore, but you can't beat the deal of free. So the offer balances out. ;)
One huge benefit to being a small independent artist is being able drop a new album, and still have the luxury of tweaking final mixes and doing a mastering revision, long after the release date. And not worrying that anyone could even notice.
Which is to say, it's never too late for a first listen!
I'm going digital on that one, but still unpurchased. I haven't even touched Bananza yet.
For that matter, I have yet to start Prime 3 Corruption.
If you haven't had a chance to check out the "Pixels to Pages: The Story of Electronic Gaming Monthly" documentary from @gamesack.net and MLiG, take a break from Metroid Prime 4 and give it a watch here! youtu.be/E010OPY1Tzw
And once more, for Bandcamp Friday, here's my new album and an excellent opportunity to be supportive, if you in any way dig what I do! Being instrumental, this record is an excellent experience to accompany almost any activity you can think of, I'll bet.

New album, hot off the digital goods press! 62 minutes of instrumental vibes. Lots of delicious guitar, a hearty helping of MIDI orchestral sequencing, and more synthesizer than you thought you could stomach in a single sitting.

Premiere within the hour! If you can't make it, watch it anyway! Because it'll be up still, and you can see it from the beginning! www.youtube.com/watch?v=E010...
This is likely to be the most viewed piece of media I've ever had music in, so let me be hyped! Thank you all for the support! ππ₯³π³
