XD I just commented on the original, particles! Of course you already thought of that, I will be quiet now. <_<

The results of my Godot shader tutorial following. Next I think I want to add some particle effects in the same blue π€
Looks good! =) Very magical.
Maybe some particles flying out?
Unfortunately we're seeing a *very large* DDOS attack on our web app right now which is likely triggering a block upstream on our host's networking infrastructure, preventing access to the site for many users. We'll keep you updated as we try to resolve the issue.
A very exciting week for us as we gained an artist!
Here is a sneak preview of the environment blockout they've done for us in their first couple of days!

Does anyone else get neurodivergent burnout from showers? They are just so⦠monumental.
100% showers are such a cognitive load... sensory overload, vulnerability, the aftereffects. All awful.
But, cleanliness is important.
I never realized how fun level design is. I was always too scared to do it because I have a severe case of "I don't know what the f*ck I'm doing" syndrome.
Either way, I added some heavy-duty trucks to challenge the player a bit more.
#gamedev #indiedev #Indiegamedev #gamedevelopment
Classic game style! =)
If you extend the roads a little bit off screen the vehicles won't pop in and out so much, and players will be able to see the vehicles coming a bit better.
Unless it is intentional, then I will shut up! =)
The truck looks huge. XD Nice and intimidating.
In your opinion, what're the most annoying ways indie devs promote their games? =)
A lot of systems look flashy but feel hollow.
Lately Iβve been chasing something quieter.
Overdesign can get in the way of presence.
Nuance and silence matter too.
Even emptiness can be part of the experience.
@sayuriartsy.bsky.social She helped!

#Solodev paradox: You have complete creative freedom but no one to bounce ideas off. You can change anything instantly but second-guess every decision. You're the boss and the employee, the critic and the creator. It's lonely and liberating at the same time. #indiegame #indiedev #gamedev
To be fair our game is fully a board game (not just digital) but we found a lot of crossover, and people were quite excited about the video game part.
I would offer to playtest, but not sure I would have the time to print it all out!
Maybe I can convince my wife to...
Very cool to see!
We also cannibalized our MtG stuff! It's surprisingly useful. =)
The gameplay sounds pretty fun.
We took ours to some local boardgame clubs. Like at a local university and just a small club nearby. Testing is super useful.
So last blog post I talked about how we're studying game design, today is the sequel where we execute some of that learning.
Paper prototyping our next game! This has been a lot of fun so far, and just instantly clear how helpful paper prototyping is.

New CROMANCE is up!!

Do not be afraid of making tools!
A quick and dirty script that automates a pain point not only saves the time it takes when doing that task, it also saves brain power!
Never underestimatr the value of simplifying things.
Here we go: #GodotEngine 4.5 is ready for wider testing with its first beta snapshot! π€ π§ͺ
As usual, it's feature-packed so we wrote a wordy blog post showcasing the main highlights in this new version.
Please report any issue you encounter while testing on GitHub!

Breath of Fire III was such a formative part of my love of games, awesome to see something like it! =)
The Avatar is a deadly force that can be steered by the "Command" ability. Once an optional boss npc in Ring Spirits - in Armour of the Abyss it is an unpredictable ally.
Meta Revelations - Armour of the Abyss is my Breath of Fire inspired rpg!

Definitely looks like some sort of collision problem. The third character looks like they are being pushed backwards.
Either I'd assume there is a collider on the canoe, the water, or the characters are too close together?
Taking a formal study of game design is a great idea. I will try and follow suit! =)
Keen to hear about your physical mock up of your game. We started with the physical version of our game and I cannot recommend the approach enough!
Studio study club blogging. We're going heavy on learning as much about game design as we can. It's been fun to dive into the foundational concepts of something I experience every day.

XD Yup!
One day I realised that just one 'reason I was tired' that day waa due to a chain of more than 7 things.
'Had to go to the shop, because I forgot milk last time, because I was distracted by a call, because I forgot to send an email, because I was in a hurry to go home..."
It never ends!
Motivation is a tricky thing.
When your motivation is low, try to understand the reason why.
There is often some friction that is restricting you.
It can be as simple as you need more sleep, or it could be a complex weave of dependencies, or it might just be really tough.
Keep trying. You got this.
Weβre not part of #SteamNextFest this time, but our demo is live and ready for you to play π¦β¨
