A skeletal man in tattered clothes holding out his hands for alms.
#FolktaleWeek! Day 3 Prompt: BLIGHT
The Fear Gorta is the "man of famine" in Irish legend, a phantom of the starvation brought on by the potato blight, and by the brutal colonial oppression by the British.

Wispy misty woman with arm stretched out, fleeting in a misty field, mountains in the far distance. A banner below says: Come dance with me.
FOLKTALE WEEK DAY 1: MIST
My illustration is of the Swedish dancing mist fairies! Read the full story on my insta β¨οΈ
Haha the pressure is on for sure! Also sitting here last minute π
An illustration. Elderly winged woman below the prompts: Mist Gate Blight Trail Depth Bone Blossom
I haven't posted much about #Folktaleweek2024 over here but tomorrow is the day! Which prompts were your favorite? Which were harder to nail down? Here's my illustration with this year's prompts.
Yes! And I've just created a feed to capture all the folktale week posts to make it easier to find everyone and follow all the stories. Yours was the first post on the feed and how I found you! Yay!

I'm a huuuge Tolkien fan β€οΈ
An elaborate frame decorated with pomegranates, apples, wheat, spring flowers and lots of leaves. Within sits a regal woman on a throne. She wears a large golden collar and a white dress.

My @folktaleweek.bsky.social day 5 illustration: UNDERGROUND. I, like so many others, chose the legend of Persephone, the queen of the underworld.
What an incredible week it has been! On instagram and here we have seen so many brilliant art pieces and read so many amazing stories! Us hosts are so exhausted and so proud of everyone who participated. Big thanks to everyone who spread the word, especially on a new platform like this β€οΈ
"And they call it a MINE!"
A witch signing her name in the Devil's book. An evil goatmam looks on. Encircled by an ornate frame.
A mermaid wistfully looking at a skull on a pedestal and a small fish in the deep sea. Encircled by an ornate frame of seaweed. A giant squid sits atop the frame.
Here is my INK & SEA for @folktaleweek.bsky.social 2023! I posted them on time on ig but needed a break from my phone after that lol. Witches and mermaids is what I made for these prompts, and coincidentally, they both served as role models when I was a kid! Like yes girl, drown the patriarchy!
And yet...
Oh no! π
A woman in simple grey clothes and a cap, adorned with small trinkets and jewelry, in front of a huge mountain range. All framed by plants with mushrooms and berries.
Folktaleweek! As a πΈπͺ kid, I always feared getting "bergtagen", taken by the mountain. By trolls. Some ppl would disappear and never come back, some would return after a few hours, changed as a person. You can read the longer story on ig: louve.draws #folktaleweek @folktaleweek.bsky.social
#folktaleWeek starts tomorrow! Just a little heads up the Instagram algorithm and how we will find your work...

*Narrator*: She was in fact _not_ ready for Folktale Week.
Are you ready? We start Monday! π
You'd think that after hosting Folktale Week for like 5 years and knowing the prompts months in advance that I'd be ready and just sitting on a stack of beautiful, well researched illustrations... Well, I'm not. π#folktaleweek #folktaleweek2023
It mee! Ready for #Folktaleweek!

A black and white drawing of a mermaid in ink pen. A goldfish occupies a lower panel.
A black and white drawing of a woman in a veil and a cape against a stone wall. There is an organic pattern under her cape.
Another black and white drawing of a mermaid in ink pen. A goldfish occupies a lower panel.
A ballpoint pen sketch of a Sailor Moon bust.
The only thing about working traditionally again that I forgot to account for is the need for an ergonomic pen grip π
Me on Twxtter: Okay I want to follow lots of creators, but it might look unprofessional if I'm *following* more creators than are following me, so I should cull my list sometimes--
Me on Bluesky: AAAH SO MANY CREATORS SO MANY ARTISTS I'M GONNA FOLLOW!! EERYONE!!!
