I get that the news cycle is packed right now, but I just heard from a colleague at the Smithsonian that this is fully a GIANT SQUID BEING EATEN BY A SPERM WHALE and itβs possibly the first ever confirmed video according to a friend at NOAA

Changing water temperatures and human-driven introductions of fish have altered the composition of fish populations in streams and rivers across the USA over the past three decades, a study in Nature suggests. go.nature.com/47ZCcWH π§ͺ
Toxicology principle that needs to be mainstream:
The dose makes the poison.
Thatβs true of everything. Water. Oxygen. Vitamin A. Vitamin D. Aspartame. Formaldehyde.
A single pear contains 120 times MORE formaldehyde than what might be in a vaccine.

Why are some species widespread while others are found only in small, isolated areas? A study in Nature Communications shows that species with narrow ranges, and thus higher extinction risk, are often island-restricted, poor dispersers, and have evolved relatively recently. #evosky π§ͺ

A medium finger bowl containing a piece of the freshwater sponge, spongilla
All the plants and critters for the zoology lab tanks came in. The first tank has leeches, the second has fish and snails, the third has fish, snails, a few shrimp (most of them were DOA), and 3 dwarf frogs. The spongilla will be used for labs tomorrow. Not pictured: hydra. πΏπ±π§
Scientists increasingly assess interventions against misinformation mainly via truth discernment. Tobia Spampatti argues in Nature Climate Change that pursuing truth discernment may not be sufficiently beneficial to society if interventions do not improve behaviour and other outcomes. π§ͺ

Some better pictures of my moth setup. The small ropes running through the tighteners are 8ft each and the ropes around the trees have numerous loops for easy adjustment. The bottom has a rope just like the top and can be bungeed to tent stakes if hung higher. A light hangs on top. πΏ

[conservation biology canβt fix all the biotic/environmental problems]β¦ βIt is, however, within our capacity to modify significantly the rate at which biotic diversity is destroyed, and small changes in rates can produce large effects over long periods of time.β
