I'm teaching about early 20th century eugenics today and was reminded that 9 years ago Republican Representative Steve King was stripped of his committee assignments by his GOP colleagues for this post that simply states what is now bog standard GOP policy/rhetoric on immigration and "civilization."

There's a great radio show... I can't remember... maybe Radiolab or This American Life, but it's about a dude who lost the ability to produce testosterone. His personality profoundly changed, and he said he found everything beautiful, but had zero motivation to do anything.
I have a hard time thinking of something that would mimic emotion that would propel any AI to act without explicit commands. We do, because we evolved to push our genetic information to the next iteration, and emotions are awesome for this. Mortality drives us to do this quickly.
