originally was gonna post this on twitter becuase it has more reach but i'll just draft it there and post it here where i feel it's more safe to be ranty like this. i'm just so... "ugh" about this, yknow?

i know i might be irrationally angry, as i can tend to be, but this kind of stuff just disappoints me. i do think these extensions have uses, i use sponsorblock constantly, but it sucks to see these users attempting to make youtube feel more dull.

plus, the dearrow'd title of that video is "The history of computer malware" which is not what the video is about, at all! it was more about how creative malware was, especially back in the day. not only does this just remove any semblance of uniqueness, it's flat out wrong, too!

for example, in my malware video, one of my jokes (the bad apple one, specifically) got marked as a tangent. and while i get it, that kind of stuff brings life into the video and makes it unique. if you didn't want that, why are you on youtube at all?

i genuinely think some of the people who are marking things as "tangents" or "filler" on sponsorblock want to see youtube videos become nothing more than a research paper, and dearrow users want the titles to be the abstract of said paper.
