It's ambiguity-in-unintended-consequences-out when you don't know what you don't know. There are plenty of domains I can think of where writing it yourself would be safer, higher quality, and provably correct using your own expert knowledge. For everything else, though ... ยฏ\_(ใ)_/ยฏ
Things like AGENTS.md are surprisingly effective, and there's all kinds of things one could say about that, but practically speaking they're a win. I had to invest and change my process, learn, experiment and tolerate some BS to make it my own. Short leashes, write great specs, plan-before-do, etc.
FWIW I can see this result with the non-SOTA models. oai 5.2 pro / 5.2 codex xtra high has been exceptional for me. Mostly likely, I guess, I just have less stringent requirements. It doesn't get everything perfect for me either, but code quality is at least good enough to trivially close any gap.
