While there is some truth to the idea of "liberal imperialism", that comes from the desire of liberalism to pervade itself through out the world and more. More classical realists forms of imperialism are blunt and repressive, with very little of gain for the conquered.
It's the reason why you have liberals and anarchists supporting Ukraine in their war, while Tsarists and Bolsheviks are fighting with one another against Ukraine and the Wider Free World. We no longer live in the age of staunch ideological blocs. But instead a clash between liberty and tyranny.
The modern Western Right is defined more so than naked realism and power politics than any coherent ideology. The average Western Right-Wingers is more likely to find commonality with Stalin or Tito than they are with George Washington or Jefferson. They're lust for power is their sole virtue.
In the future we need greater decentarlization of the federal government. Remove the autocratic position of the president and replace it with a council government of govenors from across the country. Add in IQ requirements as well for voting. Every day Trump is in office is another excuse to drink.
The funny thing about the political divide in regards to the war in Ukraine is that Bolshevism is going under the same process that Capitalism went. An originally liberal movement created to address the suppression found in authoritarianism becoming authoritarian and joining forces with the right.

In this time of uncertainty, the EU must chart itself as in independent bloc in a more hostile world, while maintaining relations with the wider Free and Liberal world post-Trump. Canada, Greenland, Britain, Norway, Iceland, and The Balkans must be accessed into the Union for full federation.
