*NEW TONIGHT*
One additional tornado confirmed in Lee County, Iowa from Tuesday Night. An EF1 north of Fort Madison. Max wind up to 100 mph over a mile long path. Some property damage to a roof and tree damage was noted.
The Iowa tornado total for 2026 stands at 3. All EF1s
Strong wind whipping across the foothills in Colorado! Some gusts have been as high as 70 mph. Check out the dust kicked up in the fields outside Superior, CO. That strong wind works eastward tonight into Friday

Some sad snow this morning slumping down the backboard of a basketball hoop Wednesday morning. Looked kind of neat over at my neighbors house! I had to take a picture.
The first two tornadoes of the 2026 season in Iowa happened Tuesday evening (3/10/2026) in Lee County. Both were rated EF1s with wind gusts 95-100 mph for each. Both did damage to trees and buildings along their path southwest of Donnellson and east of Donnellson. #IAWX #Iowa #Weather #Tornado

Two tornadoes confirmed in extreme SE Iowa from Tuesday evening.
1st (Likely pictured): EF1 #tornado SW of Donnellson 95-100mph estimated winds.
2nd: EF1 tornado winds around 90 mph near Wilson Lake Park east of Donnellson.

We're giving Thu afternoon through Fri morning a Weather Impact Alert for strong wind. Wind initially will build into the afternoon from the S/SW gusting 40-50 mph. Stronger wind is possible later, overnight with gusts 40-55 mph out of the NW. Strongest early Friday morning will be over north Iowa.
All sorts of snow across Iowa this morning. Leaving a decent coating on the ground, decks and roofs. But roads look to be in pretty decent shape in central Iowa with this overwhelmingly warm scenario. Some roads in NW Iowa are partially covered. I35 north of Ames shown here.

Decent little band of snow, turning mix/rain south/southwest moving east across Iowa. Look for some grassy accumulations and spotty impacts on the roads, mainly bridges and over culverts. Otherwise a lot of wet travel for the Wednesday morning drive.

Snowflakes are pushing across NW Iowa. A few spots will have some snow on the roads with partially covered conditions, but roads near Boone, shown here are mainly wet. Heads up on bridges! Decent little band of snow, however, that will leave some accumulation on the grass.

This roof damage in Donnellson, Iowa was likely caused by a tornado as it move through Tuesday evening (3/9/26). Storm spotters reported tornadoes across Van Buren and Lee Counties, likely marking the first Iowa tornadoes of the year.

Just a nasty supercell with confirmed tornado on the ground moving across northern Indiana. Has a history of life altering, catastrophic damage. Lake Village, Indiana has extensive damage with whole homes missing. Sad night in the Midwest.

Hail covering the ground near West Branch on I-80 in eastern Iowa around 7:30 on Tuesday evening.
This can always make for a slippery situation on the highways when this happens so always treat it like winter. Signal was for some large hail in there too!

For my Minnesota following, Saturday snow has slowly been showing signs of shifting northwards. Most of this is now north of the Iowa border. Looks like a swath of 1-4" cutting through from western Minnesota to southeast Minnesota. Best chances of accumulation are north of US 14.
