It really fascinates me how so much time in Business is spent using So Many Words to communicate such basic and worn-out platitudes, and how so many well-educated people just nod along as if it has value.

More buzzwords. Weβve ramped up the pace over the last few minutes:
* Major Stand-Ups
* Cross-Functional Collaboration
* Shooting From the Hip
* βEnsure that our resources have agency to be empowered by dataβ
Letβs play Buzzword Bingo!
So far in this meeting we have:
* Tip of the Spear
* Customer Centric Approach
* Alignment of Goals
And we are about 8 minutes in. Thatβs a buzzword every 2 minutes or so, which is pretty conservative compared to some meetings Iβve been in.
Is there a nice way to tell a client βThe problem is that your users canβt follow basic instructions?β
Work task of the day involves looking through user logs. Horrifying how many users seem to struggle with basic literacy.
Could it be something prosaic? Sure! But I am a pretty experienced skywatcher. I am outside looking at the sky most nights, and I use my telescope often. I have a pilotβs license and a degree in air traffic control. I donβt believe either object to be an airplane or a satellite. #ufosky
Second crossed when I was viewing the Pleiades, southwest-to-northeasterly direction. Also very high and very fast, with one flashing light. No other nav lights or marker lights that an aircraft would have, and it was far too high and fast to be any conventional aircraft Iβm aware of.
I also saw two fast-moving, high-altitude objects. The first crossed my field of view when looking at Jupiter, a bright light moving west-to-east at very high speed. Not an airplane, much faster than any satellites Iβve observed before.
The moon is crystal-clear and very bright as well. Exceptional skies!
Good sky viewing conditions tonight, so I got out my telescope. Can see Jupiter and four of its moons, and ever-so-faintly the Orion Nebula.
Thou shalt ban politicians from trading stocks, for they inevitably do insider trading.
Itβs impossible to trust leaders that are abusing the system to get rich.
Bill Watterson is responsible for so much of my bullshit.
I, for one, believe you.
The American healthcare system is hot garbage
I believe it. Weβre living in a gerontocracy. These out-of-touch, dementia-addled lunatics have brought us to ruin.
A slice of sourdough bread with jam on a white plate
Homemade sourdough bread with raspberry jam. Damn tasty!
Cloudy outside on this solstice night. Not the best sky viewing conditions right now.
Sourdough rising!
I absolutely agree and Iβd like to add that if your email can be written by chatGPT β if itβs not worth the human effort to write it β it probably doesnβt need to be written at all.
Unreal. Such a waste of government resources, all to harass a man who just wanted to make things better for his community. Sickening.
I think a lot of us see it as righteous retribution. Every day, these executives hurt us in systematic ways for profit. It is cruel and exploitative. Delivering us from even one of these Brooks Brothers assholes, and stirring up discourse in the process, is seen by many as a heroic, selfless act.
It says a lot that killing an insurance CEO is seen as savior behavior. Almost anybody who has needed healthcare in this country has had to deal with asshole behavior from insurance companies who would rather let them die than give them what they pay for.
Haze is a little hazier but still good views of Orion, can see the Pleiades too.
Iβm genuinely curious if Iβll get to see any of these unusual aerial phenomena. It definitely seems like something very weird is happening. I feel like 2025 is going to be the weirdest year yet.
Between my pilots license, aviation training, and astronomy hobby, Iβm pretty familiar with the night sky, especially the sky where I live. I also live within a few miles of an airport and enjoy plane spotting, so I am quite familiar with the local air traffic patterns, etc.
I donβt live too far from a place where a few βdronesβ have been seen, but so far thereβs nothing out of the ordinary in the night sky here.
Very clear night here. I can see Sirius, Venus, an assortment of middle-size stars, medium- to high-altitude air traffic, and two satellites. There is some smoke or haze in the air, but overall itβs decent stargazing conditions tonight.

My current Skyrim playthrough is a Regular Guy run. No job; no quests; picking potatoes and wandering the land.
