The Government's consultation is a rare chance to directly influence how wood burning is regulated in the UK, from stove standards to warning labels and enforcement.
Have your say on wood burning policy πͺ΅
The Government is consulting on new rules for wood burning in homes. The decisions made through this consultation will shape how wood burning is regulated for years to come, from stove standards to warning labels and enforcement. π

Rise in percentage of homes with wood burners since 2022, analysis finds
Greatest growth in rural areas as increase in homes with wood-burning stoves contributes to new air pollution hotspots
Delighted to see coverage of @βglobalactionplan.bsky.social's policy pathway towards a 2030 phase-out of wood burning in homes that have other forms of heating.
Burning is a major source of air pollution, with devastating health effects for burners and their neighbours.

Sad to see the government not taking the opportunity to ask for new homes to meet the best-in-class air quality standards.
If the government wants to allow wood-burning stoves as secondary heat sources in 'future homes', they need to ensure this only happens outside of urban areas.

Thanks for engaging. Woodburning has huge PM output; I'd ban the practice in urban areas if I could. I funded this project to determine the size polluting on-demand food & its potential to grow. At 20 ktonnes annually, it's not insignificant. Comparable to taxis and construction NRMM (LEAI) (1/2)
