GZDoom's lead dev tried to shove ChatGPT-generated code into it, then tried to *cover up the fact* that he tried to shove ChatGPT-generated code into it, then acted like an ass to the newest member of the dev team. When other devs complained about that he told them to "fork it under a". So they did.

Taking a closer look, the shop apparently just sells a random smattering of enemy spirits from the area it's in that you can choose to be possessed by. So not only is Hitler an enemy in the game, he's a random encounter, not even a boss or anything.

There's a shop in the game that lets you pick any enemy you've been possessed by in the past to be possessed by again - and that's the shop where "Hitler" is an option. So Hitler is apparently an enemy in the game.

Basically, what happens is that when you defeat certain enemies, you can let yourself be possessed by them, which lets you use the "Channeling" command in battle. Depending on the enemy you're possessed by, Channeling will let you do a strong attack followed by a buff on yourself.
