The other one I've gotten is that "she's a zionist"
Meaning their argument is "we're going to use the guy with a Nazi tattoo to finally beat Zionism." Which is a bit of a bad look.

Sometimes one can only look at a post and marvel.
Iβve been notified about another death in ICE custody.
This marks a stunning 40 deaths during the second Trump administration.
This cannot continue. There must be real accountability for ICE and DHS.
The story has been picked up by mainstream press.
Great work by @transactualuk.bsky.social

For those who don't know, Tillis LOVES Dogs. He holds a "Bipawtisan" parade every year for dogs during Halloween and even dressed up his dog as Kyrsten Sinema one year for Halloween. He hosted a Mardi Gras dog parade last month. #NCPol #NCSen

There we go, WilCo!
Very weird seeing the first major-ish election happen in Williamson since I left.
It's kind of surprising how despite living in a completely different state with different dynamics, James Talarico basically replicated Zohran Mamdani's coalition:
-Latinos
-Young people in the cities
-Asian-Americans
-Upper-class high-educated whites

Texas US Senate Democratic Primary - PROJECTION
- βοΈ James Talarico - 820,939 (51.6%)
- Jasmine Crockett - 750,347 (47.1%)
- Ahmad R. Hassan - 20,543 (1.3%)
We are projecting that James Talarico has WON the Democratic nomination for the US Senate in Texas.
WinCast: James Talarico has a 96% chance to win a majority of votes in the TX U.S. Senate Primary first round race.
We are seeing the best possible outcome that Democrats could want: Talarico gets a clean win and gets a six-week head start while Paxton and Cornyn cut each other up for two weeks.

Something something Jacket Off, you get the idea.

Good God! Also, follow @votehub.com tonight like the rest of us sickos to see what's going on in Texas.
On Saturday my spouse got out of bed and I said βweβre at war with Iranβ and he didnβt even skip a beat before delivering a perfectly dry βweβve always been at war with Iranβ
Someone has written βKony 2012β or βRIP Harambeβ on a 500-lbs bomb. I feel it in my bones.
do you people have any idea how rare it is to get 99% of a large group to agree on anything
"the media is hostile to trans people" probably gets a more unified reaction than "three times three is nine"
Another contrastβthis time, between this case and United States v. Skrmetti, 605 U. S. 495 (2025)βis also striking. In Skrmetti, several parents challenged Tennesseeβs ban on gender-affirming care for minors. The suit raised claims grounded in both equal protection and substantive due process. As to the latter, the parents in Skrmetti, similarly to the parents here, asserted a right βto make decisions concerning medical care for their minor children.β Pet. for Cert., O. T. 2023, No. 23β466, p. 34; see id., at 18 (invoking a βright of parents with respect to the care, custody, and control of their children, including in decisions about medical careβ). And in support of that right, the Skrmetti parents relied on the same precedents the Court does today: Parham, 442 U. S. 584, and Pierce, 268 U. S. 510. See Pet. for Cert., No. 23β466, at 34β36; ante, at 5β6. But the Court, when deciding to grant certiorari in Skrmetti, limited its review to the equal protection issue: It would not even hear the parents out on their substantive due process claim.
This footnote in the Kagan dissent specifically called out how they avoided this sdp claim in the Skrmetti case but then decided it here in an emergency shadow docket posture here. It's all calvinball where the principal is whatever hurts trans people.
This isnβt contradictory if you believe that both women and children are property
One of my favourite sides of politics/media.
For those looking for additional data points about what's happening with immigration enforcement in Minnesota and other states, our habeas case tracker has just been updated. TLDR new cases have dropped: projects.propublica.org/habeas-track...
Good example of the way anti-trans hate and antisemitism continue to be intertwined in American discourse. Once more subtly, now far more overtly.
I'm so afraid people are confusing aesthetics for ideology and style for substance. He's a softer spoken religious white guy, I get it that doesn't code as progressive, but go look at his history and his website. He's been fighting the fight for a while now
Is he campaigning as a "moderate white dude" or is he just a cishet white man who talks about religion? (And uses religious arguments to defend LGBTQ people and immigrants btw)
If you want to argue he isn't populaist enough, ig. But he's also running on medicare for all and $15 minimum wage.
Anyone who has been defending trans rights before they were running for higher office was have at least the benefit of the doubt from me.
The last Dem ran as anti-trans and anti-immigrant and lost worse than an TX Dem in over a decade
Crockett is great on TV and in the hearing room, and I'll be happy with her, but Talarico has the record and can approach issues in a way Texans we need to win will hear (and I don't mean maga voters)
How so? He's pro-trans and pro-immigrant and he's been at the forefront of Texas Dems in the Lege fighting back against Paxton and Abbott. He's was doing both before he was running, too. He was on my radar for a long time, and I know I'm not in Texas anymore, but he would be my pick.
