Why… to prepare them for life in the mid 20th century. How about learning and assessment that embraces the world of today and prepares them for the world of tomorrow.
And not cut university costs (as they are still 6 semesters long with teaching in the summer, meaning extra staff or not having staff undertaking research activity) whilst reducing their income.
There’s no way for an English guy to dig himself out of that hole is there… can I call Mercy Girl Glasgow’s finest instead.

Short version - swift privatisation to an impoverished population leads to capture of resources by very rich minority and oligarchy. Or fails completely and leads to conflict between existing power groups. In both cases huge corruption
Would recommend Hypernormalisation by Adam Curtis as well.
Watched ep3 of Adam Curtis The Trap. Bought home what the thinking behind whats happening in the US. Part failing to learn lessons of trying to reconstruct Russia and Iraq in an uber free market form, part the cancer spreading back to the host. Spoiler… it doesn’t end well.

(From a Brit) You need to do something. Embarrassment isn’t enough. The many good people of the US need to organise and take action, no one else can.
(From the UK) Whilst things are clearly v bad for the US itself this has now gone past people disowning them or saying you didn’t vote for them. You need to find a way to take action because the rest of the world can’t. Its on you. All we can do is try to survive and defend ourselves from you now.
Agree on Snares… the only reason i’m not listening to it on repeat is that I’m listening to the album on repeat
I’m blown away by how good this record is. A huge achievement.
