Literally just finished it for the third time. Also the audiobook is great because the narrator sounds very much like she's reading train station announcements, it creates a brilliant surreal humour when that calm even voice quotes the deranged ravings of TERFs like Robin Morgan.

I voted Labour at the last election, and for this I am so so sorry. At the time the sitting Tory MP was a rabid transphobe and I thought that Labour, the party that in my lifetime had repealed Section 28 and introduced the Equality act, had to be better than the Tories for trans people. I was wrong.
Meanwhile there is some small cause for optimism. The Green Party’s policy positions on trans healthcare are better and last I checked also include a trans-led public inquiry to hold people accountable.

So between denying trans kids access to affirmative healthcare and the guidance effectively banning social transition in schools, one could be forgiven for concluding that the government's strategy is to to maximise the suicides of trans kids, to minimise the numbers who survive to be trans adults.
